SSC Tuatara
And I thought I couldn't pronounce the Agera...
Well as many car fanatics know, recently it has been a major battle between 3 main compnies for the speed record: Bugatti, SSC, and Koenigsegg. After the original SSC was introduced in 2007 (taking the record), Bugatti introduced the Super Sports version. Then the Koenigsegg Agera came out... and now, SSC is responding with something of their own.
Looks a little futuristic if you ask me. Nothing has been tested yet, but it definitely has potential.

Re: SSC Tuatara
"just in excess of one million dollars." for a fancy car. Shit.
I realize that's hardly the most expensive car, but I can't imagine people drive these things all that often. You'd have to be a flashy (and fairly rich) person to buy that thing.
Definitely does look futuristic though.

That thing is probably a maintenance nightmare like any new car.
I miss cars pre-80s and I wasn't even around in the 80s. They're so much easier to work on and fix.

Re: SSC Tuatara
I remember seeing something on this a few months ago, and by the way (The Tuatara (pronounced twu‐tar‐ah)) is not actually pronounced that way at all, it is pronounced how it looks (Tua-tara or even more basically Two-a-tar-a) and I know this because it is named after a New Zealand lizard and that is how you pronounce the name of the lizard.

Because everything was mechanical back then. If you had a good team of mechanical engineers, your car is set. However, nowadays, cars are basically computers on wheels. Nearly everything is slowly being phased out for electrical components. Computer chips control near everything, in which is partially why maintenance costs have spiked; it's no longer simple.

I'm completely aware it's because they were all mechanical. It should be all mechanical, all of this computer shit is completely unnecessary. Manufacturers try to make their cars idiot proof and it's a nightmare for any mechanic working on these damn contraptions. Not only that, unlike in the good ol' days, if a part broke, you took the time to build it back, but now all you do is buy a new one because of liability issues if something goes wrong.
It's fucking stupid in my opinion. I don't understand why all of this shit needs to be there. It's just one of the many reasons I like older cars.

As of now it's proven top speed is 0mph. The car is just a concept, and I think still isn't 100% complete. They'll probably test it within this year, or by the end of 2012.

The car as of now is just a body and an engine. but some scientists who work at SSC say thats gonna beat the bugatti supersport, not i think it will yet
