So? There are TV shows and movies that have halfway decent shootout scenes...

Thought the shootout scene was pretty cool and I think you're over examining it

It reminded me of playing Fallout. A bunch of people spraying wildly and walking towards you slowly.

Re: The Walking Dead (General Thread)
Well shooting zombies is different than shooting people who can shoot back. I know in every FPS I've played and I find myself round up in a firefight. It's always difficult to pop out of cover and quickly make the shot.
That's all it was, people rushing their shots by going back into cover too fast. Also, factor in the adrenaline and fear kicking in, because how often have these survivors been shot at? However, the Governor was acting completely unrealistic. I haven't read far enough into the comics to know if this is just to be true to his nature, but it was completely unreal. Still, I enjoyed the episode.

- Spoiler:
- Idc what anyone thinks, I loved that episode, and didn't see Axel's death coming in the slightest. And yeah I know I've never read the comic so who am I to talk... but "not like the comic" doesn't equal "not good"... if anything i'd be bored as hell if it was exactly like the comic, because I would know everything that was going to happen. There is bits of deviation, but the general storyline is the same.
Also, I highly doubt that last episode will be the final firefight at the prison... to those who express their disappointment.

- Spoiler:
- I'm not trying to say the show has to be exactly like the comic. That's kind of unreasonable. I'm saying that the show has really great source material and doesn't really deliver on the same level that the comic does, and isn't near as good.

How is that shootout any different than any of the other shootouts in the entire series?
Every single shootout has both sides heavily armed, trading shots, and only one or two people total dying or being injured.

Re: The Walking Dead (General Thread)
- Spoiler:
- Rules of war dictate that the governor holds the advantage in almost every sense. He has the superior numbers, superior firepower, superior supply lines, and in my opinion, superior intelligence. Tyrese's group will provide intelligence as to the layout of the prison and what comprises their fighting force, which is currently unknown to them. The only advantage that Rick's group holds in conflict is possibly personal skill, but the governor has elites as well, including himself, and many conscripts. As Sun Tzu also states, skill only goes so far.
As Merle says, he controls the roads. He has the firepower. He could starve the prison out if need be. In reality, the only chance the prison has is to find another safe haven, as Herschel suggests. A last stand will only result in Rick's group being killed and paraded through the streets. Seeing as how something like that won't happen (obviously because we need someone to follow), I predict that by the end of the season, you could see many catastrophic losses in the group. How many people can fight efficiently in Rick's group? Eight. How many can in Woodbury? Before the town had a defense force of around twenty five, thirty. Now with conscription, he can probably field around sixty.
Of course, with Rick's group having protection of the plot (seen in the first Woodbury raid, not so much the second), Woodbury in all senses will probably have its leadership cut, and its residents scattered in the confusion unless a clear line of succession is in place and that successor is equally respected. An unfortunate side effect of war. After all, it's not the citizens' of Woodbury's fault.
My analysis: Rick's group doesn't stand a damn chance.
Also, these people in Talking Dead that are guests are idiots. Andrea is dedicated to the people of Woodbury and is fully aware of the fact that cutting the head off like that will only lead to more problems. She knows that her friends are not as relevant in the big picture now, seeing as she now has the image of her friends being road warriors. They put it all aside as Andrea enjoying sex with The Governor, and while I won't rule that out as a reason (having a significant other that is), she knows that towns like Woodbury are the only chance humanity has. Not as miniscule groups of road warriors and mercenaries.
@helmetbaby
- Spoiler:
- That's not necessarily true. While he did this with the soldiers, I believe he did this because he saw the soldiers as a possible threat and their equipment as too valuable. Tyrese's group are civilians with nothing to lose and everything to gain. Not only that, they are dedicated to fighting Rick's group after the incident. These are perfect soldiers. Don't disregard the 70+ odd men and women he's accepted into the town, fighters and non-combatants.
