Very Merry Christmas Game Giveaway
HO HO HO, MERRRRRRY IMMINENT CHRISTMAS!
I want to share an idea with all you good little boys and three or so girls on the site. I propose a Holly Jolly Happy Holiday Very Merry Christmas Gift Exchange. What we do is, instead of buying ourselves any games, we just list any games we want along with the price. Then, if someone else has an identically or similarly priced game on their wishlist, you guys can agree to buy the games for each other, instead of just for yourself. Although it's ultimately pointless, it could be a fun and festive (and less lonely seeming) alternative to just clicking through what you want to buy, and it will also give you a good chance to share your interests and talk about various games.
And also, another idea. Actually giving gifts. For example, Mount and Blade: Warband is a game I love, and it also happens to be on sale (10 dollars, an absolute steal considering I've sunk 284 hours into this game without even playing more than two hours of multiplayer and I've yet to become tired of it. And the multiplayer is also very good, I'm just a single player type of guy). So, the idea is, I have over a thousand dollars in my bank account, and that's after buying my family Christmas presents, so I'll offer five people a free copy of Mount and Blade: Warband.
Here's the catch: I want to know that this won't be a likely waste. I want to know that the person receiving it will likely play it and isn't just trying to get a free game they otherwise don't care about. So to sign up to potentially get a free copy of Mount and Blade: Warband, just write why I should give it to you. You can just put "I find it's combat fun looking", or you can go more in depth. Here's a reference video to give you an idea about the game and what it's all about, and hopefully get you interested in this fantastic game. You can also search other videos of course.

Mount and Blade: Warband is on sale for the near future, but other games might not be on sale for quite as long, so start listing and exchanging now.
My List:
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare ($12.49 for the next 13 hours)
Dawnguard ($13.32)
Borderlands 2 ($29.99 for 11 hours)

I have. It looks almost identical in the combat aspect, but with improved graphics and animations. However, it doesn't have Mount and Blade's excellent single player.

Really? I didn't think MB's singleplayer was that great. Maybe I just didn't get far enough in

Are you sure you two aren't thinking of Mount and Blade? 'Cause I'm talking about Warband, which is exponentially better.

I've only ever played Warband. What was so great about the singleplayer?

I'm not sure. I liked gradually getting better equipment and participating in massive scale wars. I liked that it actually felt satisfying when you accomplished something, due to it being difficult on the lowest settings. It got a lot better for me after I learned pretty much all the essentials and got into the flow of things.

Just bought Mount and Blade: Warband after playing the demo. It's pretty good so far. Would buy Chivalry too, but my computer can't handle it.

Re: Very Merry Christmas Game Giveaway
LOL I definetely got addicted to Warband's singleplayer for a good day or two just because it's ridiculous. It kind of sucks, but it's fun. Taking on an entire 200 person army alone and winning is a real achievement. Too bad none of the royalty seem to recognize it. >_<
Anyway, Chivalry has wayyy better melee combat than mount and blade. Attack spamming is not a legitimate strategy, it feels a lot better to play in first person, and atmospherically it is a lot more pleasing. I recommend it.

If it's fun, it doesn't suck in my book.

In what context did you do this? The only armies that even have that many people are marshaled armies, or a king's army, and I'd never buy anyone ever beating even an impressive portion (more than 4 before you're destroyed by high tier cavalry and crossbowmen) of either of those alone.
If you mean you personally killed like 200 people in a siege, I'll buy that. It's too easy to stand off to the side and overhand chop down tons of enemies in a siege. I'm gonna guess though that that was just an exaggeration.

Attack spamming doesn't work at all against shielded enemies, and most enemies are shielded. It doesn't even work against any decent enemy that's aware of you and has a weapon that can block. However I'll believe that Chivalry has superior multiplayer. But if there are others who like singleplayer like I do, Mount and Blade: Warband's singleplayer blows Chivalry's out of the water (because Chivalry doesn't have singleplayer apparently). And I personally can't play Mount and Blade in any way but first person, and haven't encountered any problems with it.

Re: Very Merry Christmas Game Giveaway
Just to clarify the rules, you're supposed to find others in the thread to exchange games with. The giveaway part applies to Warband. Been on a Skype call with Coggy and sgt while they've been playing it, they're both enjoying it. Coggy bought it himself not long ago, and I sent sgt a copy today as he provided a better reason on Skype. Probably gonna send one to snowwolf, but that still leaves three copies.
So for example, both KZ and nK both want Arma II, so instead of buying themselves Arma II, they can buy each other Arma II.
