Doublepost bumbing my own thread BUT WHO GIVES A FUCK?!
I've been listening to Between the Buried and Me - Colors more and more, and I have to say it has defibately made my top 10 list of albums... Thanks for introducing me to this great piece of music DeadApe. I especially like how it seamlessly switches between Death Metal and Porcupine Tree'ish clear section, and even managed to put some jazzy tunes in there. I just absolutely love this aklbum.
In fact, I love it so much that I actually bought it. No, seriously. I hardly never buy any music, but this one I couldn't resist.

Oh, you are so mature and funny. What is it up to you if someone else likes rap? And followup question; Have you ever actually listened to any rap, or do you just think it's shit because the big boys told you it is?JBPURCELL wrote:Ajpimpcycle. wrote:i have 2 agree with snow recession is an amazing album along with (id add pictures but i dont wanna take the time 2 find them )

Re: Best albums ever?
Well, that is odd. I thought Fin called you out not JB. And have you come to the conclustive zenith that maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't take one music genre off your playlist. No body is going to ridicule you based off of a behavior which introduces diversity in terms of a music genre.
Anyway, here are a few songs/albums that I think are pretty good.
If you're into metal, try Killswitch Engage. (I hardly have an internet connection so I have no links but, look up one or two of these) The singer is black which still bewilders me (Steryotypical view based off of MTV "now a days.") and they aren't that bad.
If you're into Rap or techno/rock, try Mindless Self Indulgence (the entire If album is pretty good but "Bitches" is a classic). I saw them live at Starland and it was intence. They sometimes do shows with big Rap/Hip Hop stars. They are weird, corny, and funny to top it off.
If you're into some emo/Black Snow (kidding) type of music that isn't too whiny, then try At the drive in/Sparta/The Mars Volta (The band At the drive in broke up into Sparta and Mars Volta). These guys are pretty good. They are emotional but, not to the point of wanting to punch the little emo singer in the face. One down side, moshing is prohibited at their concerts.
If you're into surfer rock, try The Expendables. (might have spelt that wrong) As a guitarist, I find their songs to be cool and smooth with a slight touch of metal (look up War Cry by them). They aren't main stream like Pepper is now and they just sound great.
If you're into a compilation of a few bands (Atreyu and I few others I cannot remember), try The Sounds of Animal Fighting. They are pretty weird and cool. I would recomend the Tiger & The Duke album because, the albums I have listen to so far sound less than poor.
And finally, a few other bands that I love with their best album.
Tool-Lateralus (Look up the relavance to this album and Fibbinochi's Sequence)
System of a Down-Steal This Album/Demo Tape
Gorillaz-Demon Days
Gunther & the Sunshine Girls-Pleasure Man
A Perfect Circle-eMOTIVe
Buckethead-Every album is great
and finally, lets end this with some mainstream
Alien Ant Farm-ANThology

Re: Best albums ever?
Haha, I listen to Lateralus every time I'm a survivor on zombie night. It's just so epic.
I can take some rap seriously, MF DOOM, Zach de la Rocha, but otherwise, I just don't like it. Instrumentally, it shows no creativity because it's pretty much made up of loops and samples. I don't really see any "rapper" in particular being unique. It just seems like it's all the same..

Re: Best albums ever?
Yea. I love Lateralus. I find A Perfect Circle to be the same effect on me (mainly because, the singer for Tool is the same person for APC).
And I see what you are saying about rap/hip hop. The stereotypical image is generally some egotistical, self righteous, "gang member" talking about the same thing over and over again. However, this is what gives talented people bad names. It is all based of genre. The majority of the world few music in a very tunnel vision way. They see what part or hear one part and they are turned off and conclude that this is just not for them. For rap, I am begining to find some really cool artist. For example, the Chocolate Rain guy. I figured his music would suck and when it said rap, I wasn't even willing to click the video. But, I forced myself and found out that it wasn't that bad. He talks about some "touchy" issues all while keeping a good beat and singer on top of that.
My point being, if you are not in the mood to read a paragraph of rant, just because the majority of it may not suit your tastes, that doesn't mean that there isn't something out there that sounds fantastic to you.
