HeartBeat Sensors in 3rd Person

Do they work? When i have one on my weapon i hear the beeps as you would in fp but does anyone know how to use this? Or are they just useless?

u cant but the beeps work u just look around and if u hear it then theres a jew in that direction

Aah, are there different sounding beeps for friends and foes?
And also are they still as effective?
