Canadian Gamer Stops School Shooting

We hear about so many crimes that people try their hardest to link to gaming, we now have a story of heroism that we can link to Xbox LIVE. According to DualShockers and the Vancouver Sun, a senior from a San Antonio school is now in custody after making plans for a school shooting over Xbox LIVE.

A Canadian resident overheard these plans while playing in the same match as this San Antonio student. The teen was upset over failing grades and wanted this classmates to suffer for this. He listed names of his intended victims. As the Canadian gamer tried to get more information, the teen left the room.

He then contacted Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who traced the teen to Texas, with the help of Microsoft’s Law Enforcement Security division. The teen is now in custody.


“The suspect indicated he was a senior at his high school, had failing grades, and mentioned names of students he was targeting, along with plans about how the shooting would proceed,” said Port Alberni RCMP Staff Sgt. Lee Omilusik
(via Kotaku). “In this case, the suspect was quickly arrested and no one was
hurt thanks to the information received from a concerned citizen.”




On Xbox LIVE people can tend to try to act tough and if this was all talk from the teen, it's not something to play around with. Whether his threats are real or not, teens need to understand that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

If this is true, then should I call Microsoft about the 12 year olds that threaten to kill me and the ones I love after I accidentally team kill them?

I would have thought anything of it if I was that same kid in the room. Most people on Xbox today attempt to make us "coo" with how hardcore they are. Most people don't take anything anyone says seriously on Xbox so to see someone was actually scared that this kid was going shoot up his school must have been a gut feeling or he really convinced him.
