Xbox reliability is HORRIBLE!!

Well my Xbox finally failed me,it hadn't been working properly for about 2-3 months but it wasn't anything horrible.But now none of my games will load it just says "open tray".The sad part is i've only had it for about 6-7 months and its already dead.(or atleast to my knowlage).Thankfully i still have a warranty that'll cover it and i sent it in but it could be up to 21 days before i get a new one. So what i want to ask you guys is What do you think about the reliability of the Xbox 360?

My 360 rarely if ever breaks down since it has the Jasper Unit and an Intercooler. But otherwise, no sadly....

I have the problem sometimes it wont turn on but the open tray problem try unpluging the xbox and replugging it that fixed mine i had the same problem.

Yea i agree, i've honestly lost count. I'm on either my 3rd or 4th xbox. Buy an intercooler and put your xbox in a ventilated spot and it will last longer.

yea you need a inter-cooler because i didn't have one before and my xbox would always, well not always, but it would get the red ring of death so i bought a inter-cooler like last year and ever since, nothing has happened

Compared to other competeing systems, xbox360's reliability is truely horrible. They have fixed a lot of the problems, but the breakdown rates are still high. I think the current failure rates are 1 in 3 for xbox360 (33%) and only like 2% (1 in 50) for PS3. Huge difference. However, for some unknown reason I continue to stick with xbox (and luckily my system hasn't broken down...yet)

at the moment i am saying xbox reliability is shit but thats just because i got the error e74 message a couple of days ago.

My xbox will be 2 years old this December. I don't know why my xbox is so reliable. Maybe I got lucky.

Well you should have a 66% chance of it not dieing, so it makes sense that yours falls as "reliable" (in theory). But yeah, I guess luck is part of it, but odds are in your favor.

Mine is also almost 3 yrs old now and still going strong I think...

I got that e79 or e74 thing once but it went away and this was like 5 months ago. I guess I am lucky. Only problem is that the disk trey gets stuck every now and then

Well I think a stuck try is pretty good compared to some other problems i've been hearing (like ur xbox scratching the game discs). I think both mboddz and Finn are having that problem right now. It's rly unfortunate

Well I had the same problem as fin. My box updated mw2 and put a crack and circular rings on it.

THat happened to me last month all i hadw to do was unplug my xbox wait 10 secs then plug it back in

E:68 is annoying too. Its just a failure to start up but still and you just restart it but, it happend the first time i got my "new" xbox.

The reliability on the xbox sucks, I can't believe they shipped the 360 as in now.

Micro$oft was so eager to get a headstart on Sony that they somewhat compromised the integrity of their hardware. It's really one of the only real, albeit, big problems that the system has.

There are no tricks or anything to work. There are so many vary opinions on how to fix the system and what not that it's not worth the effort to try them out. An example would be the Niko Intercooler. I've seen so many conflicting reports on it being fucking amazing to being the single thing that could kill your xbox. If you can, I suggest if you buy a new system to get it at best buy and get a warranty. Usually it saves the trouble and hassle of waiting a few weeks to get your system back from Micro$oft.

i would go and buy a arcade from best buy for about 200$ or wtv they are but im short on cash and my friends dad works for ups so i get express shipping on wtv i send which is good.I'm probably gunna try 2 send mine out by sunday latest. Oh and i also learnt that the ppl at 1800-4my-xbox are some of the most incompetent people ive ever had 2 deal with over the phone.if you can avoid it try it took me like an hour and a half jsut to tell them all my info and get my sticker thing so i can send it to them.
