BioShock Infinite
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/111/1111981p1.html
Read Article, watch video, be amazed.
No seriously, I am not on the Bioshock train and I didn't pick up the 2nd one because I thought it was just an effort to get money out of the series. But this one looks like its going to be pretty sick. I like that its changed locations and even themes. Its coming out in 2012 though, so we'll all be dead and unable to play it.

Re: BioShock Infinite
I never got to play the 1st Bioshock but I did buy the second one, and judging from that one it took the series down to a complete low. Hopefully this one will revive it all.

Definitely drowning in the underwater city. I think what made BioShock quite scary was the fact that you were at the bottom of the ocean and so it was quite dark.

yeah the multiplayer was lame the only match that was fun was team death match and even that was poorly made bioshock plasmids made it really cheap and fixing up turrets made rooms hard to survive in espessily since they are in every room

REVIVAL
I'm sure everyone's already seen this chicken-shit bullshit, but here.
It's been under development since two years before the first Bioshock was even released, this is for one of many reasons, but this is the main reason: the environment, including the buildings collapsing and floating around and all that jazz, is COMPLETELY unscripted. The building falling over in that trailer was a dynamic, random event.
Irrational built a new physics system from scratch for the game to replicate the buoyancy and attitude of buildings that might be held up with such means, as well as the rest of the environment (the buildings will also be affected by the weather, including thunderstorms, high winds, hell maybe even a fucking hurricane will be implemented), so if you get fucked over by a falling building, that's most likely a one-in-a-million deal.
My guess is they can show gameplay so early because its been under development so long, and they are using the time from now until 2012 to look at critical responses and public reception, but hey, that's just my guess.

Holy shit.
Well
1. Game looks fucking amazing.
2. World is "dynamic"? Well I'm sure in some ways it is, but I might as well just have watched a cinematic, it seemed very scripted.

Re: BioShock Infinite
Irrational already confirmed that the world is completely dynamic, the physics have been so re-written that they don't even resemble the old BioShock games by a bit, even Him knocking that water tower clear off of the building at the end wasn't scripted, with the model of 'Him', since he doesn't have a name yet, depending on where he moves and what he does, the environment will suffer.
Believe it or not, its true, and its fucking awesome.
He is a 30 foot tall monster that was to protect, and keep captive, Elizabeth, and you (Booker DeWitt) have been sent into the city to get her out. The rest is a clusterfuck.

Re: BioShock Infinite
How is that not scripted? I think you mean to say the engine allows for destructible environments. But the character placing (girl appearing where she did, big guy attacking and landing on the bridge, and the large bird thing landing on the roof) are definitely all scripted.

Re: BioShock Infinite
You'd have to read what Irrational have said.
Apparently she accompanies you throughout the entire game, of course meeting her at the first bit was a set event, the Handyman that they fought off the bridge was scripted to the point of his appearance, the physics took over from there on the destruction of the bridge, and until he fell off. The enemies did in fact act on their own accord in the trailer, the appearance of Him was scripted, but his interaction with the environment wasn't. (Once again, most of this is cited from what they have told the public.)
I mean, its no wonder they've been working on the damn thing so long, they have to make us believe that this stuff is actually true and will be happening in-game.

Right thats what I mean. The physics engine is all real time. But the events are scripted to happen.

Re: BioShock Infinite
If the battle on the bridge wasn't scripted, why was there such detailed dialogue, the npc's knew what was happening. I really doubt they would record thousands of hours of extra dialogue for all the possible scenarios/outcomes that you say there are.Bladewind23 wrote:You'd have to read what Irrational have said.

How many times do I have to say that this is what Irrational Games has said?
I'm just quoting, this is what the DEVELOPERS are saying about the game.
