Lurking on /sci/ and I found this problem to be kind of intriguing (I LIKE MATH! HURRRRR) and frustrating once I figured out I was wrong (or at least told by all the smart people on /sci/). Let's see if you guys can solve it. First 3 correct answers a cookie.. or Pi *buadum tis* (really bad joke. I apologize)
"Remove all cards except aces and kings from a deck of cards, so that only eight cards remain, 4 aces and 4 kings. From these 8 cards, deal 2 to a friend. If he looks at his 2 cards and tells you truthfully he has an ace, what's the probability the other is an ace? If he instead tells you truthfully that he has the ace of spades, what's the probability the other is an ace?"

Might as well give the correct answer since no one really seems to interested.
The answer is 3/11 and 3/7. If you can't convince yourself of that mathematically, run a simulation to show it.
The reason being is because, the way the deck is shuffled. There are multiple different positions the cards can be arranged before dealt. So, there are 7 positions, and 3 different aces can take up the first spot and 4 different kings can take up the first spot.

That is the answer from /sci/. I ran the math simulation and it proved to be true. Still don't get how suite has to do with the chances of the next card.

Did you honestly expect a simple Algebra I probability problem?

It asked for a probability. It was made to troll people. How are you going to ask if you have one ace and what the chance to get a second ace then say you have an ace of spades and ask for another ace.
