Two Worlds II
As much as Two Worlds sucked, it did give me a fair amount of real enjoyment for a week or 2. Yea it was flawed and stupid, but it was like a good B-movie. It was great to laugh at, and had plenty of glitches. On the other hand it introduced "weapon stacking" to RPG's, its world has the most variety out of any RPG I've ever played, including vast deserts, snowy ice-capped mountains, dark evil forests, and of course the green fields we see in most RPG's. There were plenty of bad guys of all sizes and shapes, and running into the Dragons in the game was awsome, killing them and taking their treasure was even better. However even these great features could not sway reviewers who were blinded by its horrible bugs, cheesy story/dialogue, and utterly broken multiplayer.
Two Worlds II will be tied to the first one, only by its name (IGN.) The game is being built by a team twice the size of the first one, from the ground up. The game features a very high powered engine called Grace, that apparently is very sophisticated and will deliver a true next-gen feel. The environment will move like it should, with grass blowing as it should, and a great sense of light and texture. IGN has confirmed this, but also stated that the engine seems to focus more on this than great looking player models. The game still has a couple of months to go and this can be addressed. The world in this game is also 25% larger than the first, which was already very large.
The developers at TopWare are keeping the multiplayer under-wraps for now. But are hinting that it is going to be a big thing. "It's the closest to an MMO you'll ever get on a console" and "it blows my mind, some of the stuff that Reality Pump are doing," says TopWare. Apparently Microsoft is also very interested in the multiplayer mode, probaly hoping it will head the MMO movement.
I am very excited for this title, and believe that it can very well be a great game. With a larger budget and team, the glitches that plagued the first game should be non-existant. If microsoft truly backs this game, the multiplayer may be something that someday we can all enjoy playing.
Two Worlds II will be released April 2010.
