Yea slipknot is trash. The only reason anybody even knows them is because of "wait and bleed".

If you ever see them without their masks you'll know why they wear them.

Every 12-year-old kids first "hardcore" band that they listen to some time, then realise it's shit and move to the real shit... Though their first few albums have some good songs.

Could not have said it better.

Best posts on here. No need to read the rest. 100% contempt.

Oh and please can we get rid of the whole "genre" thing. Categorizing music only creates barriers for tunnel vision individual, who listen to only "Death Metal", or "Classic Rock" or whatever other type of name people give certain types of music to base their opinions on to see if it isn't a "waste of their time".

Zomando wrote:Hmm, usually I just have the E string dropped to D or C and the rest of the strings standard. It sounds real heavy for sudge or doom metal.

I see C natural as the best. It fits my baritone style giving me a good rhythm boom but, it opens up a deeper solo which can almost taunt the listener waiting for the peak of the actual solo, allowing for a good lead fill or a "breakdown" with out spoiling the listener thus making it more rewarding.

Oh and Buckethead= Nu Metal fan. He enjoyed playing with Serj (singer of SoaD, a huge Nu Metal band) on the "Buckethead and friends album." On the same album, he also played with Efrem Schulz (screamer for Death by Stereo, a debated "Death Metal/Screamo" band.)
Mainer (hopefully I didn't butcher his name) also ventured pretty far with Nu Metal, in the opinion of the majority. Rage Against the Machine was a heavy influence for Mainer's work and from the classifications I have seen, I guess you, yourself, can consider them to be a Nu Metal band.

Btw, Dubs...

Glad you are such a free spirit. But genres are pretty much the only way of categorizing music. It keeps me from describing black dahlia murder as the one that uses the guitar to make cool sounds. Theres nothing wrong with labeling music. It just when you say "I dont like this genre, so I wont listen to that band at all and I will assume they suck."

Right but, I see know reason as to why to categorize music. All music should be listen to. Think about it, if you were in a band and created a song, wouldn't you want people to listen to your song because it has a consonance sound and not off of a genre?
I just think people need to open up a bit more and listen instead of reading...

but i'm not sure if i could still call it that. In the four years I've had it, it's been completely stripped and refitted with better equipment.

I also have:
-2 Fenders(built one myself over the summer)
- An actual 1968 Dan Electro (with the origional lipstick case pickups)
-A Peavy Foundation jazz bass(discontinued in 1990 something, refitted now with bass humbuckers i made)
-A B.C. Rich Warlock with white tribal finish
- And an old Ibanez hollow body, complete with floating bridge and f-holes.

It would take me forever to list all the pedals though, if you know what i'm saying Smile

I am poor so I only own..

-Fender Strat (first guitar) with a pickup kill switch (homemade) and working on the wiring which recently fried. Cost -$150 (Starter kit and yes I was ripped off)
-BC Rich Warbeast with Floyd Rose double locking tremolo. One stock BC pick up and an EMG 85 for the back. White outlined and a Coffin Case included. Total Cost- $460 (EMG was free and Floyd was on sale.)
-Fender Tim Armstrong HellCat. Acoustic/Electric nothing done to it. Sounds really really nice. Cost->$400
I think the normal price on the HellCat was somewhere around $500-$600 but, on Amazon, you can find anything. I am not sure on the exact price, though. It was a Christmas present.

I definitely agree with you that people should be more open to different music (*coughzomando*cough.) But
your likes and dislikes are built into your DNA you cant help it if you don't like something. You should definitely FIND OUT though, by being open to different music and going out of your way to listen to it. Categorizing music is just as evil as categorizing foods, clothing and t.v shows. Your not saying anything bad doing it, just describing it by comparing it to other things.

Buckethead isn't just a new metal player >.<
Yea, he played with Serj, but
He also played with Les Claypool, Bootsy Collins and GNR(unfortunatly).
Just listen to this shit:
