With every team playing at least once now, I think people are going to see who has potential to win the cup.

Three teams that were way off their game:

Brazil, Spain, and Italy

Usually powerhouses, IMO these teams gave way to major upsets. Italy (see quote above). Brazil won 2 - 1 against North Korea, but being one of the top ranked teams, they could have done better (especially against NK). And then there was Spain... 1st opening game: Spain vs. Switzerland. Winner: Switzerland. Final score was 0 - 1, and Spain lost; a major upset.

Three teams that I think could win it based on 1st round:

Netherlands, Germany, Uruguay (maybe Brazil)

IMO these teams stood out the most. Netherlands with a impressive 2 - 0 victory over Denmark, Uruguay with a dominating 3 - 0 victory over South Africa, and of course the uber dominating 4 - 0 win of Germany over Australia. Not to be bias, but i'd say round 1 goes to Germany.

EDIT: Spain actually did pretty good. It just so happens that most of their goal attempts were "attempts". Had some pretty good shots, but no team in FIFA has ever won the world cup after losing te opening game (yet).

Don't have much to say after this week, except that this year's world cup is messed up.

With the exception of Brazil (and maybe Germany, because of the horrible "card happy" ref), all of the football superpowers are doing horrible so far...

Spain - Lost to switzerland.

Italy - Tied their 1st game, then tied again 1 -1 in 2nd game... with New Zealand!! (No offense to New Zealand, but it is like the 96th ranked team against the 5th; biggest upset so far)

France - Lost... to Mexico!! And not to mention internal team problems are creating lots of controversy (might disband?)

There is even more....

I would find it funny though if it was Mexico and New Zealand in the finals.

Hopefully Europe can pull back together, Brazil has won enough already.

Germany would've won easily if it wasn't for the idiot ref who was yellow card happy. Germany played most of the game one player down, not to mention everyone had a yellow card, so they were "nervous" to make any attacking plays to score goals.

I'm not worried bout them; it's Italy, France, and maybe Spain that need the most help. God I hate that ref...

Surprsingly though, this is not the most ownage match of FIFA World Cup history. The most was in 2002, with Germany vs. Saudi Arabia. Germany won 8 - 0.

I know Spain has yet to play (I might edit this later) but i'd say round 2 goes to Brazil / Portugal.

Well it is official..

France is GONE, finishing at the bottom of the group (with 2 or 3 loses I think)

As I said before, this is one messed up world cup. The final nail in the coffin for France was hammered by South Africa, beating them 2 -1. And to think they were in the Finals last world cup..

USA advances to the Round of 16 at the top of their group, higher than England!! All thanks to an amazing goal during stoppage time at the very end. USA has hope in this!! Very Happy

EDIT: I said it before, this is one messed up world cup. Guess who's out now? Sorry for all you Italian fans, but Italy has been eliminated, not even making it to the round of 16...

Only European Football Powers left:

- Germany
- Portugal
- Spain

And Italy and France were in the Finals last world cup (1st and 2nd), who would've known... (Germany got 3rd Very Happy
