Your Opinions on Kinect(Natal)

Lots of mixed opinions on Microsofts so said Breakthrough in next gen gaming. and same goes with peoples opinions on it on this site, so I want to know what you think. tell me why you can't wait for it, are dissapointed in it, or just think its going to be a major flop.

IMO I really want kinect, although there titles like kinectimals and kinect sports are ripping off nintendo in so many ways I really want it. maybe its because I am an Xbox fan, maybe I'm on a bandwagon, or maybe I just have high hopes for it i don't know. I just know that it will bring an experience to the table we have never experienced. the dance titles that they say are being released for it look like they'll be a blast, who knows they might even teach u some insane moves to try out in public. Kinect also can take pictures and upload them on facebook (like say when your rolling over for your tiger cub) without u knowing if u so choose it to do that. reminds me of a friend with a camera in your most embarassing stages. I am all for Kinect.

I'm definitely getting this because instead of buying a wii, you could just buy this which might be better. But we wont know until it comes out.

Microsoft should have shamelessly ripped off Nintendo (Sony has done it for over 10 years already, and no one cares) so that I could have had a controller shaped like a gun AND GAMES WHERE YOU COULD ACTUALLY USE THEM!

Kinect has the same problem as the Wii had at it's release. It's only launch games are mini-games and cheap gimmicks that don't even work that well. I don't have a reason to buy Kinect yet.

I have to admit Slacker Hero was right about this one. Until Kinect shows support for hardcore games then its not worth the buy. I feel that Kinect is awesome, and has awesome potential when COMBINED with the controller, its just up to developers to get their feet wet and try it out. You know you should be worried about Kinect when Peter Molyneux says Fable III wont be Kinect ready at launch.

Waiting for reach to come out on Kinect. HURRR

You know damn well, when it does come out for hard core games, it most likely won't be fun.
When they fix Kinect after it breaks from some new red ring, I will consider buying it.

I disagree. I find a lot of games now a days are having poor control schemes because there just are not enough buttons in good places on the controller. With Kinect developers can assign more actions because aside from the controller you can use Kinect. Imagine playing a new Ace Combat where you have full control over all of the buttons in the cockpit, while you would use your controller how you normally would, you would have that extra level of control with kinect, including looking side to side out your windows.

Games like GTA could have a lot more interactivity now that you can fully control the limbs of your third person character. Instead of relying on pre-assigned movements, you can do a stupid dance in multiplayer, or wave to someone. Throwing objects like grenades would be slightly easier too. Hold down a button to aim, then tilt your arm back and throw with better accuracy.

Kinect is a pretty crazy accomplishment I think, and even if its not used to its potential now, sometime down the road the same technology will be picked up and used properly. With many company's investing in 3d technology, we will start seeing 3d tv's and consoles in more homes (But not for a long while.) The combination of controllerless gameplay, or motion gameplay and 3D graphics could be amazing.

You might be giving this camera too much credit. From the videos I have seen, it seems like an eyetoy.

I do see the potential in the new equipment, but I doubt it will reach the hype they put it up to be.

as awesome as that sounds, there would have to be a huge ass update for it to work.

I am talking about a future GTA or a game like GTA. Not the current one.

And by doing that, you'd be looking away from your TV. Unless they include some sort of sensitivity option for that too.

The GTA example was better though, but why would you need to use kinect to throw the grenade when LT and RT will still be reserved for aiming and shooting weapons... And I doubt it would be accurate, actually probably the opposite. And we all know what would happen if you'd get FULL control of the characters body.

All you would have to do is turn your head slightly left or right. They have already shown this with forza 3 or some other racing game.


Maybe your right about that accuracy part.

I think a GTA with kinect would be amazing. Actually kicking down doors, carjacking or dragging and throwing someone. The hand-to-hand combat would be amazing too you could have a fist fight with your friends through the t.v.

that's what boxing games are for

But with boxing games you can't pick up a bottle while fighting and hit them with it or beat them to death with your fists or throw a bin at them or sumthin

i know, but when you pick up a bottle in the current gta, it doesn't look like it for other players :/

I know that's shit but in future GTA's they can and hopefully will improve that

By what logic? You can kick in GTA IV too. You can also open doors by walking at them. And if you kick such door, it opens. Yet that doesn't mean that every door in GTA IV can be opened, now does it?

Until I can go into RDR and drag someone off their horse and beat them to death then i won't be getting Kinect for a while. I can see potential for it but the current games for Kinect are for 6 year olds and that one about interacting with a virtual kid named Milo are meant for lonely people and pedophiles.

If they mix kinect with a gun controller then i could imagine the possibilities with that. Whacking people, aiming down sights, etc. Works for any shooting game i would think,
