Reach Puzzle Preview

Hey guys, not sure how many of you are puzzle fans, but I thought I'd post this here anyways. I just finished making the preview video for my new puzzle and first Halo Reach map. I made quite a few of these on Halo 3, and people seemed to like them, so I'm continuing the genre on Reach, but they'll be much easier this time around as I found the ones on Halo 3 quickly became way too difficult. I want the average Halo player to be able to solve their way through this, so all the challenges just require logical thinking. There's no random fusion coils or hidden weapons, everything you need will be in plain sight, and once you figure a challenge out it won't be very hard to do (as to avoid frustration). I also concentrated on making the challenges feel fun and epic. So here's the vid, tell me what you think:

HORRIBLE MUSIC CHOICE! At first I was like "Ecstasy of Gold? Fuck yer!" then I was like "isn't this a little faster than usual..." and then my ears started bleeding. Ennio Morricone would turn in his grave... if he was dead. That song is probably the future cause of his death though.

Don't be afraid to make some extremely difficult maps on reach either.

That seriously looked insane. The map looks awesome and your video was a great representation of that, so great editing!

Ha, actually the song is by Ennio Morricone. It's from his remixes album, lol. And I personally love it.


Don't worry Meatshield, when I said I toned down the difficulty level, it doesn't mean that this will be an easy map. It's just that my Halo 3 puzzles became so hard that it was kind of rediculous for me to assume that anybody would figure it out on their own (although a few did). This one will still have you scratching your head, but atleast you won't have to take it to forge. There'd be no point, everything you need is in plain view, and there's always a pretty clear sense of direction. You should always be able to figure out where it is that you're trying to get to without much difficulty.

I'm glad you liked the editing Deadape. It did take me a while to do, mainly because synchronizing clips with music in Pinnacle studio can sometimes be a bitch.

Ha, hey man I joined in on those Cod 4 zeds the other night, and am definitely down to do some Undead Nightmare with any of you. But yeah, I suppose this could be borderline advertising. I was mainly just looking for feedbck on the video though as I just made it yesterday.

Yeah, me too. Unfotunately I also have a community of my own to run (which is overdue for another custom games night) and a wife. Those are two pretty big time consumers. Throw into the mix university and my job, and you can see why I run such a tight schedule, lol.
