Games That Need To Die

I've never really wanted a franchise to die. I had fun playing Reach, so if they make another one, as long as it's also fun, I'm fine with it. Same goes with Call of Duty and Black Ops.

I do like that one guy's idea to limit sport games to every two years though. A new, slightly different version every year just seems exploitative.

Yeah but if you really love a franchise you don't want to see them ruin it. Same goes with movies. The problem is that sequels used to be full fledged sequels. For some companies now, the sequel just means next years slightly upgraded iteration.

A sequel should have
- Improved gameplay with tweaks to the formula
- Improved presentation
- Better story
- Improved engine

I was watching the ME3 unveiling at E3 and my cousin said almost the exact same thing. creepy eh. MW3 is a perfect example of how to not make a sequel, FAr Cry 3 looks like it fits the bill though.

Hopefully, I was extremely dissapointed with FC2. The engine in that game sucked. If they just kept the map editor and hired someone who actually knew how to make an FPS they would be set.

I agree with everything here except for Battlefield, and even that I'm not sure of. I haven't played many of the more recent incarnations.

And I should add that TES and Fallout could probably be better handled by a different developer.

The NFS series

Sry to all the fans still out there, but EA killed it after NFS Most Wanted (last good one), and unless they take a dramatic turn-around to what they used to do, there is no sense to buy anymore of the new releases (for me at least).

Why not? Most of it is just sex spam with games like "2 Girls 1 Game" or some bull crap M2AF or Voice Changer that seems pointless and useless. Not that I'm saying people don't enjoy some of the content but I think most is just spam coming from people trying to make a few hundred bucks selling a game they probably made with Microsoft Powerpoint.

Also, Oblivion isn't a series, the Elder Scrolls is, and Skyrim looks beast.

Obsidian handled Fallout perfectly, and as long as they make them, I'll buy them (for PC)

I don't play many indie games, but remember that indie games aren't always XBOX indie games. Supporting Indie Games is good thing, because honestly it's new companies and new ideas for games are formed.

my opinion is that a good series should never die it should just take a break like cod its the same multiplayer over and over again just new guns different era and im talking about both companies

I do agree; I just got the vibe that Obsidian was really limited by the framework Bethesda had in place from Fallout 3. If they had time and resources to start from scratch I'm sure it'd be a pretty great game.

I don't think they were necessarily limited, as they wanted to keep what worked well, and I applaud them for that. But I see where you're coming from.

Some of you guys are out of your damn mind. First off, a franchise doesn't need to die if there are only 3 games out.

Test drive has 2 out? Forza is moving to its 4th but it seems that the games get largely better with each installment. Dead Rising doesn't need to "die," The first was great, the second, not so much, but if they treat the third one well and switch things up a bit, they can get the series back on track. But as far as you know, they don't even have plans for DR3, so....

Blazblue is supposed to be excellent. I couldn't give a rats ass about FF but apparently each one is entirely different, as I've learned from many arguments with Super Mega King.
