I couldn't give a rats ass about FF but apparently each one is entirely different, as I've learned from many arguments with Super Mega King.

Most of them are different in key enough ways that I count them as separate games. Really, since most of the games aren't connected at all, it's easier to view each Final Fantasy as the next roleplaying-game from Square-Enix. Exceptions exist of course (FFX-2, FF13-2).

Cry isn't incorrect. Some of the games have similar situations, but the perspective, gameplay, and entire world are different enough to separate it from the rest.

That being said, I sort of wish they killed the Final Fantasy brand name and Square continued with a different one. When there's >14 installments to a so-called "series", it's about time for it to end.

i think that the modern warfare series should keep going because the campaign is fun and the multiplayer varies enough to keep it interesting. However, i think that treyarch needs to step out of the call of duty franchise entirely. Black ops dropped a bomb on graphics and world at war did too. the only fun part is zombies and even that gets ridiculous when you have to pay $15 just to get maps you wont play and one zombie map.

treyarch doesnt need to drop out cause in my opinion i liked there games better cause i like ww2 games and stuff and there can only be so many mw's i hope they make a new series after 3 but i bet its pry gonna be like cod futuristic warfare and you get to play as a brand new character chief master and you have to find cpt. price (the same captain price as the mw series) but now hes a head in a jar while searchig for him you have to figth aliens know as the covementioninators

Call of Duty needs to die, period. It's too late to save it and it's just hurting the industry more and more with each new yearly release. I don't care how 'good' the campaign was or how 'fun' zombies is, buying it is encouraging a business model that is really just hurting the way video games are designed and released in the long term.

The Battlefield game at the top of that image isn't even out yet, so it's not too fair to say it should die yet.

Who knows, maybe it will be the most innovative game ever. I doubt it, but it's possible.

I don't really think they're generic, the developers are just attending to the market that wants it most, that's how they make money. Plus, people are attracted to the idea of modern shooter games because it's their escape into a reality that their fascinated with by nature but likely will never experience in real life.

I mean, I agree, it's boring, but it's the nature of the industry. Plus, alot of racing games that are out right now are fairly modern, and we don't call them generic. Razz

I feel like the FPS genre is drained for the most part. Until somebody tries something completely radical or we get some major breakthroughs in gaming tech, things will continue the way they are. The problem with radical ideas is that they don't always make money, and they can end up as gimmicks.

Drained as it may feel, have you ever considered how far the FPS genre has come? It's a truly incredible thing when you think about it. Back from the 2D halls and paintings of Castle Wolfenstein, to the lush and beautiful lands of Halo, FPS's have come a long way, and it's only a matter of time until they carry us further.

FPS has been ruined for me, I payed $59.99, played fucking Black Ops (AKA: Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 2.05). Then relized that they all have the same storyline, shoot, shoot, oh and guess what MORE SHOOTING at least add some sandbox to this crap.
