UEFA Euro 2012

As some people know, the Euro cup 2012 kicked off today, with 16 nations participating. The cup is only held once every 4 years, with 2008's victor being Spain (1-0 v. Germany in finals). This year, it is co-hosted by Poland and the Ukraine.

Any bets on the winner this year?

To all who didn't watch the opening game, it was intense!

2 red cards, a lucky penalty save by a subbed-in keeper, and a hard fought goal by Greece to tie the game.

The Russia - Czech one was good too, but despite Czech's attempt to come back in the 2nd half, Russia dominated.

Well, shockingly as it is, based on today results, either the Netherlands or Portugal probably won't make it out of the group stages. They are both last in points for group B.

After today's results, Ireland is pretty much screwed. Since they lost to Croatia today, in order to stay in and not be eliminated, they need to beat Spain in their next game... good luck with that.

Ireland got slaughtered today, and with that loss, become the first nation to be officially eliminated from the championship. 15/16 nations remain to date.

That England - Sweden game was intense, I mean seriously. If you haven't looked at the first post yet for the results, don't. The way the match goes you have no idea who will prevail.

Nope, because Italy plays England in the quarters, in where England will get destroyed.

Also, imo England didn't even deserve to advance based on the last game of the group stages. Ukraine overall played better, and on top of that, the Ukraine had a goal robbed from them with yet another "goal line controversy". Replayed video showed the ball in the net, but the ref didn't call it. I would have pushed it aside if it was a convincing win (let's say, 4-1 ?), but the final score was 1-0.
