The Days After: A Story of Man (Sign-up) - Page 2 Empty Re: The Days After: A Story of Man (Sign-up)

Post  Desert Sleepy 11th July 2012, 9:00 pm

Name: Cody Wooten
Date Of Birth: 2193
Place Of Birth: North Mexico/Amado, Arizona
Occupation: Entrepreneur/ Soap Salesman
Faction: Unaffiliated
Nuclear Family/Family/Associates: Desmond Wooten (Father)/ Sloane Wooten (Mother)/ Oberon Wooten (Brother)
Character Description: Very short dark blonde hair (nearly brown) and a stately, well kept mustache that isn't so thick it looks like the mustache of a working man but isn't so thin it looks like the mustache of an aristocrat. It's a mustache that emanates class and prominence, despite belonging to a traveling soap salesman wearing a decrepit, patched grey suit, along with well worn leather gloves, a dark gray dress shirt, a lusterless red tie, and cheap but durable dress shoes. Fairly unimposing at five feet, seven inches and not exactly athletically built at 158 pounds, Cody nonetheless isn't concerned about bandits or other dangers. The only thing he's ever felt particularly afraid of is germs. Germs and cockroaches, but he's been slowly adjusting to the second.

Background: Born in August of 2193 in the small town of Amado in southern Arizona, his parents were always surprised by how poorly Cody dealt with the heat. It's perfectly normal for fair skinned people to sunburn, but he seemingly never adjusted to dealing with the hot summers. Maybe it was the sweat, maybe it was the stench of people, or maybe he was just born with it, but somewhere along the way Cody became obsessed with hygiene. That may have been agonizing for him, were it not for his father being in the hygiene business. Making soap and toothpaste for the small town was never incredibly profitable, but it brought in enough money that, combined with his mother's proceeds from her job at the oil field, Cody and his family lived a decent life in considerable comfort. Cody wasn't quite satisfied with the humble lifestyle though, and started saving up money for a horse-drawn wagon and other travelling essentials. Now in his early 20s, Cody and his brother Oberon were finally ready to leave home and find their place in the world. They made a decent team: While Cody was more interested in "the finer things in life" (like sleeping, relaxing, books, plays, movies and prostitutes if they're available), Oberon was more of a frontiersman. Oberon is more formidable at six feet and approximately 200 pounds, but is actually fairly even tempered. Oberon enjoys fishing and hunting for sustenance, and is the younger of the two. He wears a brown jacket and brown pants, with a cheap protective vest to look more professional. While Cody drives the soap and toothpaste filled wagon north toward the Bakken oil field, Oberon keeps watch with his M1903 Springfield rifle and an old revolver as a sidearm.

Plans: Cody is currently hoping to sell his products to the military forces and families in and around the oil field. While he isn't exactly an expert salesman, Cody has sufficient knowledge of diseases that he can typically scare people into buying soaps and toothpaste. The back of the wagon is filled with medium sized rectangular bars of soap wrapped in brown paper, flavorless toothpaste wrapped in a more slick white paper, and the molds and supplies needed to continue making these products, along with the few possessions the two brothers are taking with them. Surely there's a profit to be made up there, right? How many soap vendors could there be in such a volatile area? Regardless, anywhere's better than hot Arizona. With any luck, Cody hopes to make a moderate amount of profit selling his wares, and then expand. Maybe buy some slaves to work at it for me, hire some guards. He's ambitious and unscrupulous, and hopes he can someday be a big name in the country. While not overly fond of violence, he wouldn't really be averse to using it to improve his circumstances. The way he sees it, what goes around only comes around if someone brings it around. There's no such thing as Karma. The world isn't going to be out to get him for doing wrong, only other people will, other people that he'll hopefully have outgunned.

Post  snowwolf1996 11th July 2012, 10:26 pm

i decided to make one only to see the characters point of view, so anyoene can use her

Name: Ltn. Dinah Harper
Date Of Birth: 6/12/2189
Place Of Birth: Malad City Idaho
Occupation: UGW Liuetenent
Faction: UGW
Nuclear Family/Family/Associates: Father/ Mother/ 30yrs Cpt. Ronald Soald (superior)/Jonathan (brother)
Character Description: Dinah always listened to her parents and always strived to become better than her brother, Jonathan, but to no avail. She was never payed attention to by her parents, yet through all the striving she loved her little brother. One time one of the neighborhood kids was bullying jon and beating him up, so she intervened and beat the living snot out of the kid. Yet all it did was cause her parents to think she was insociable.

When she turned 17 she left her family to live free with the UGW Military. When she first arrived in her squad she underwent a hazing, where she was gang raped by the squad(which left her traumatized), despite that she just asked to be switched to a new squad. With her strong personality and counseler she was able to hold back her feelings and advance through the ranks of the UGW.

Now she was just promoted to the rank of Liuetenant and stationed at Bakken Oil field leading a Platoon she didn't even know, inexperienced, and completely traumatized. The only light she has is her captain who acts as a mentor whom of which has swooned her so much that she wants to start a relationship with him, yet her memories of the rape has caused her to stop mid-sentence every time she tries. With war seeming emminent between the NET and the UGW, who is to say they will come out alive?

Personal description: She is a redheaded, determined, 5'5", strong willed woman.

Notes:
Spoiler:

Interesting character, I initially wanted to have people use at least their first names, but some people have strayed from that and it's OK. A lot of people have common names (Mine for instance, is the most common in the United States) so there will be repeats. At this point, I don't care much about names and it's OK if some people have exotic names.

FoundDa Kiwi wrote:Name: Capt. Eric Morrison
DOB: 2/8/2186
Place of birth: Cape Elizabeth, Maine
Occupation: F4E Phantom Pilot
Faction: NET
Nuclear Family/Family/Associates: His father and the friends he's acquired during his station with the 121st.
Character Description:

Born in 2186 in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Eric's mother died at childbirth so he grew up with his fathers military based teachings. His father being an ex-radiomen for the Army who was discharged after he lost a leg to a bandit mine. He taught Eric how to read and write, as well as how to operate a radio. Throughout all this, Eric began to develop a fascination about aircraft. And as such, he decided to enlist into the Air Force when he was old enough.

On Eric's 17th birthday he enlisted into the NET Air Force. He said his goodbyes to his dad and was shipped off to basic military training. It was there he was taught how to fly the F4E Phantom, among other things. At the end of BMT during a training flight, the squadron he was part of encountered massive radio interference which blocked them from communicating with the air field they were supposed to land on. Remembering what his father taught him about radios, Eric was able to get through the interference and contact the air field allowing the squadron to land safely. His actions subsequently earned him the callsign "Cipher".

After he graduated BMT, Eric was assigned to the 121st fighter wing as an F4E Phantom pilot. Years went by and he slowly climbed up to the rank of Captain. Now the year is 2215 and the 121st is being redeployed to the borders of Bakken. Ready to strike against the UGW if the time arises.

Name: Lt. Eric John
DOB: 7/18/2190
Place of birth: Montpelier, Vermont
Occupation: F4E Phantom Gunner/Pilot
Faction: NET
Nuclear Family/Family/Associates: Parents (Ann and Steve) back home in Montpelier. Only child. Many friends left at home, most made on base.
Character Description:
Eric grew up on his parent's horse ranch outside Montpelier Vermont. The Virus might have destroyed most industry, but the " John Family Ranch" managed to fight it's way through it all and maintain a business for countless generations. Working on the ranch was hard work, but Eric worried more about domestic and international conflicts than the profit of his family's business.

Tensions with rival countries forced many young men to enlist (or be drafted? Not sure if that's a thing Jag. Thought I'd throw it in.) in the military. Eric decided that joining the air-force would be the safest choice, hoping that he wouldn't get much action. Basic training went by quickly, but somehow Eric ended up in flight school rather than getting the cushy spot he would have wanted. Through practice Eric became a crack shot in the training jets, especially with main Vulcan gun, eventually earning him (when he's flying) the call-sign "Cowboy".

Eric jumped from fighter wing to fighter wing, and very recently joined the 121st as they redeploy onto the borders of Bakken.

Characters will be introduced as the story goes on. I intend to introduce everyone within the next day or two. Just stay put. So far, Kiwi, Meatshield, Manguydude, Snowwolf, and my character have been introduced.

You just put your input into what your character does next, notice all of the stories end on a note before something is about to happen.

Name: Darius "D." Ico
DOB: 4/12/2194
Place of birth: Southern California
Occupation: Courier, Gun Runner; Ico Caravans
Faction: North Mexico (Protectorate)
Nuclear Family/Family/Associates: Mother and Older Sister manage the Ico Caravans Branch in Phoenix. Father, Daniel Ico killed by landmines along New England warfronts. / No outer family known. / Darius has many associates along the western coast, having Chapters in Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Reno, Austin, Salt Lake City, and Carson City. One of his partners in his caravan work is Evan Garrett.
Background: Darius worked alongside his father doing caravan work since he was in his teens. Doing so, he had traveled across most of North America, from Los Angeles to New England, and the inhospitable locations inbetween. A native to North Mexico, Darius has made his home there, setting up the Home Chapter of Ico Caravans in Phoenix, Arizona. Darius' father was well connected with the North Mexican government, and their caravan often received funding to go about their business. Darius' father also traded supplies, namely guns, to the UGW and the Alaskans. Darius' father attempted to trade ammo to the NET, but on a trip east, Darius' caravan was destroyed by NET defences, and his father was killed by remotely triggered landmines. Darius has kept his merchants as far as possible from NET trade routes, and urges his government to keep them out. Darius currently is traveling from the chapter in Reno to the oilfields in North Dakota with another co-worker, Evan Garrett.
Character Description: Darius stands at about 6"2, with a fairly muscular build. He has spiky, short cut, golden-brown hair and green eyes. Darius has a tattoo of a map compass, with the letters ICO written in bold below it, on his right arm. Darius has scars in his left arm that resemble old bullet wounds. For clothing, Darius typically is wearing a re-purposed SWAT kevlar vest, covered in a light brown coat. He also wears dark gray cargo pants, littered with ammo and supplies. When traveling, he also wears a face-mask and sunglasses.

Darius is very charismatic and sarcastic. Often getting the shit end of the stick on most situations, either when traveling or in tense situations(which often lead to someone getting shot or knocked out), Darius is often joking around and making fun of many serious things around him. He is also very resolved around money. Cash is his motivation in many situations. That and alcohol. He's had to cross badlands often, and he has learned to defend himself, his people, and most importantly, his caravan. He carries a modified L85A2, hung over his shoulder.

Los Angeles is a city currently under siege (and failing to seize) by the North Mexican military. It is home to a group of raiders at least 500,000 warriors in strength, and known only as "Raider Ally" as shown on the map. From experienced caravaneers who have done business all around the country, they almost all reliably say that Los Angeles is the most dangerous city in the entire continent, outmatching every other raider infested city at least five fold.

Not like you would really know, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but if you look on the political map, you'll see the Los Angeles area highlighted with large blood red strikes, indicating that it is an extremely dangerous and volatile area. Casualty rates of North Mexican soldiers regularly break two and even three out of every five soldiers.

Name: Evan Garrett
DOB: 4/7/2191
Place of birth: Southern California
Occupation:Caravan trader
Faction:neutral (doesn't care as long as the money goods and he doesn't get shot at)
Nuclear family/family/associates: Never knew much about his father, cares moderately about his mother, no other relatives besides his half brother Darius that he runs with in the caravan business.
Background: Rather than joined his families business of caravanning with Darius, Evan decided to make his own caravan, Garrett's mobile bar, along side Darius. When it comes down to the conflict, he doesn't really care which side wins, he just wants his bar intact and a cigarette in his mouth. Evan is a wise cracking son of a bitch. He usually isn't that bad of a guy as long as you pay for the boose. Wielding an engraved .44 revolver that says "to each his own", he's also quite the gun fanatic.

United Governments of the West

Formed in 2065 by the Weston family, the United Governments of the West started as a few towns controlled by Andrew Weston. Weston brought the towns together by spreading Christianity and over two hundred years the family has made the empire. By 2100, Weston united several different smaller 'countries' being formed in neighboring states and thereby formed the 'United Governments of the West'. They are a country formed out of the Evolution Theory (Government).

For 50 years, the West devoted itself to building infrastructure, establishing a currency and forming what resembled government of the old world. It is here when they started to modernize their country, reintroducing oil as a major commodity and studying military ruins for old world vehicles and how to build them. The West became a dragon in the badlands, a tribe that no other would dare challenge with 'demons' that 'harnessed pure destruction from the gods themselves' as some tribes put it. The West became expansive with the the Turner policy, which made the West ask tribals first whether they wanted to join or not. If they didn't, they'd be ran over, and usually they were since tribals didn't speak English usually.

The West is a culture of society first. It's very motto is 'Omnes ante pauci' or 'All before the Few'. It is indoctrinated from a very young age by parents and school alike in young children to always put their government first, their people first and their society first with no exception. Corporations are started to benefit the country, not the head of it. Men and women join the military to become professionals happy to serve their country and benefit the greater good. It is hard to find rebellion in the West, in fact they haven't had one yet, it would require going against everything they've ever known. English is the primary language, and Spanish is a less common but still noticeable second language.

Alaskan Sovereign

The exact date that a Sovereignty was established was in 2072, when a culmination of villages which watched each other ever vigilant finally decided to band together and take on the great beyond. The Alaskan Sovereign was started in the southern coast of Alaska to give the weak a fighting chance against roving bands of raiders. Eventually, through attrition, they won and spread the word. The Alaskans welcomed all who would join their new found country and worked on oil drilling as to modernize their economy. Their real claim to fame was an oil deal struck with the infantile UGW who imported oil from them. This influx of gold and valuable materials bolstered their economy and they built the land outward.

The Sovereign has a relatively low population, around two million people. They're very conservative because of manpower shortages and do not expand much because of it. The Sovereign is a country that will be reluctant to react unless something they ardently believe is a problem confronts them. What concerns them specifically in the next twenty years or so is NET expansion, especially into Hudson, a port used in Hudson bay that doesn't freeze over. The Sovereign knows very well their military capabilities and as of 2215 is trying to make an alliance being a protectorate of the UGW.

Culturally, they're independent but conservative. Life in the hard winters means they stick to tried and true ways of survival and rarely venture away from it. Military expanse doesn't interest them, neither does expansion in general, so they very optimistically draw their borders to encompass the entirety of Alaska where in reality it's only been recently visited by explorers. No tribes are known to live in mid to northern Alaska, although towns exist all up and down the coasts from south to north. The Alaskan Sovereign is an example of the Social Contract theory.

The Alaskan Sovereign is run by the Nayokpuk family, an Inuit family. English is the only language used officially.

Nouveaux Territoires Angleterre (New England Territories)

The true powerhouse of the old world. The Griffon family used faith to unite people under their wing. In 2035 the first villages in Quebec were sovereign, and by the end of the century legions of people flocked to them for protection. François Griffon, the original patriarch was an extremely charismatic leader who was kind to his people and fiercely defensive of any who opposed him. He gained devout followers, but also devout enemies. Many learned though that if you planned to oppose the Griffons, don't, you'll live longer. By the end of the century, what resembled the old world thirteen colonies was on the map.

By unleashing the power of the ancients, the NET gained power that was unheard of yet in this new world. They quickly got to work modernizing a military, modernizing a new world and rebuilding old cities. They discovered history and military imprints and soon enough appeared to be the new incarnation of the United States.

Culturally, the NET is very open minded to anything. They understand that the world is their oyster and that if they want to be the masters of their world, they need to control it but evolve as well. They're extremely expansive but extremely kind to the people accepted under their wing. Their society is one ever changing, but people always remember their place with the extremely radical ideas. Some things will never change, but all in all, the NET is probably one of the best places to grow, offering information that can't be had anywhere else and a jewel in the shell of a previously prosperous world. They are an example of the Force theory.

In the NET, French is the main language, but English is a secondary that is taught very young in school. Around 90% of NET citizens are bilingual.

Norte México

The only new world country built out of an old world country. The North Mexican government was built by the remnants of the Mexican government in the early 2030s, which consolidated power with control of military positions and extensive mercenary networks. People flocked to them for protection and like the last three countries, eventually they seized power. Unlike the rest though, their rise to stardom was through extensive merchant networks, making themselves accepted with fellow countries and nearby smaller empires which they occasionally annex.

As of 2215, they form one of the strongest mercantile nations in the known world. They deal in business with every country in the North American continent and enjoy a sizable military force because of it. Spanish is the main language, but English is practiced by merchants as a trade language. The country is an example of the Evolution theory.

Catholicism is a very important part of North Mexican culture. Every four kilometers on main highways in country a small iron crucifix is implanted on the ground and their motto 'Christus Diriges via' or 'Christ guides the way' shows this. Their biggest military operation right now is 'The Resistance', a three year long campaign to seize Los Angeles from the 2 million strong force of fighters occupying it, but the conflict is unpopular because of the lost on the North Mexican side.

Neuvo Islas

Formed in 2105 by commonalities in the Caribbean Sea, the New Islands quickly established mercantile strength and an aluminum industry which does minimal business with the NET. The New Islands have never faced conflict, even in country and aim to keep it that way. Their sovereignty expands over every island in the Caribbean Sea and the word is law, although they enjoy rather low crime rate.

Military strength is the worst out of all five countries if compared, but strong enough to ward off rebellion or influxes of troublemakers. The New Islands is significant in that they've sent explorers to the African continent and the European continent unlike any other nation and do minimal trade with communities in said areas. They also differ by being a true Republic, rather than a Republic overseen by a patriarch who can stonewall anything they want to without question. Visitors to these islands have noted that the people here are 'Kind, calm, and very well mannered.' This country is an example of the Social Contract theory.

The culture of the New Islands is very simple. A conservative element keeps the island in a state of social stasis where the mentality is 'If it isn't broken, don't fix it'. Sexual promiscuity is another trait had by these people where faithful, yet open, marriages are often found. Foreigners are often confused as to how this works, but to be honest, the people of the Caribbean don't even know themselves.

********

An important thing to note is that religion is important in all these countries. Varying forms of Christianity are very widespread, especially in the West, where it plays very well with their culture, and Mexico as well.

Name: Liam Krieger
DOB: 7/9/2193
Place of birth: Littleton
Occupation: leader
of a merc squad who is part of a merc group
Faction: Himself and the NET Locals
Nuclear Family/Family/Associates:Father (Stopped talking), Mother (deceased), Mordecai Krieger (deceased brother), River Krieger (wife), Abel (son)
Character Description: When Liam was born he was smothered by his parents, like his brother 3 years earlier. Although at age 14 he picked up a lot from both sides of his family before his mother passed away from a fever, and had to utilize that knowledge when his father failed to pay the bills.

He helped his brother survive on the street by stealing money and food from a local baker, and from that joined a local gang that did various things to get himself paid. Eventually when he was 19 he started to organize the gang into a mercenary group that would bring in money from not doing mean things to workers in the NET. When turning 21 his father forced his brother into the military and got into a fight with his father about Mordecai, in the fight he vowed to never speak to him again.

He lost contact with Mordecai afterwards and from that fell to grief. While ailing from the sadness of never finding his brother, he met a women named River and eventually married her while she was pregnant with his son Abel. While he finished recovering from failing to save his brother from his father he spread the organization, so much that he practically owned a small army.

While sorting out his mail one day he found a message from a man called Heath Wright. He opened the message and realized it was from his brother, who stated about what has happened to him since they last seen each other. The last part of it shocked him to the point of disbelief, it stated that if Mordecai didn't die in his suicide mission to never go looking for him and that he misses Liam" with a P.S. at the bottom that instructed the distruction of the letter afterwards. The date of the letter was the 29th of december. He instantaneously became soothed by the words on the letter and felt for the insurrection his brother failed to make.

He is 6"1 with a full beard and ear length hair. He is an average built man without much distinguishable features.

Thank you for asking.

As much as it doesn't allow variety, I do not want CEOs of companies. This isn't a story about rivaling corporations, it's about two great nations at war and their soldiers' struggles. It's OK that those characters are there, but in a sense, they've been filled by Westhybrid, DJDimitri and Desert Sleepy who isn't getting any time right now because I'm having trouble integrating him.

I'd prefer it if you made a character which is a combatant. It'd be easier to integrate him. Remember you can also take over any NPC character with my permission.
