So much for M$'s "SUPA NO MODDA PATCH!!1!@!9"

Found a modder on GTA and I am modding Nazi Zombies right now and PM's work just fine . To do the GTA mods, though, I think it involves changing a series of strings on you common.rpf file.

What am I talking about? Flashing. Flashing you Xbox 360 and then burning the games onto a disk with the "common" files either modified or replaced. Now some of you may have heard about it but, don't get any ideas... or should you? Recently (the 3th of September actually) a patch was distributed throughout each game to stop this type of modding. Now M$ had the option of banning each person with the mod (not going to go into detail to bore you but they check what is called the checksum file and if it’s different they just ban you.) or who they thought had the mod. But alas, good ol' Bill here is a modder at heart, if you could call him that, and threw in a little bump in the road for us modders. This got all of the cocky little 10 year olds with their rapid RPGs, and what not because they bought the whole kit from some guy on eBay or where ever, stopped in their tracks. In any case, this patch is tough for newbie modders but for some advanced ones it was far too easy. Now this is where I kick in my theory. Ol' Bill knows this patch won't hold up long (obviously it didn't. Just found a modder in GTA) but he isn't looking to ban all the little kidies and their new toys. Nope he has bigger fish to fry. See Bill wanted the "Die hard modders" to break through so he can round 'em up and cut 'em down thus ending the battle against mods. Quite clever actually... I may not end it but it sure as hell will put a dent in the community.
So if you are one of the many who are new to modding or just bought a flashed Xbox, sorry your time is up... for now.
If what I think is going to happen then the only option for some of the more skilled modders is to leak the mods out to public thus allowing modders to take cover and let the "little guys" take the fall.
Ok so maybe this is a bit dramatic. Maybe I am just a "dog barking into the dark," but, I will be damned if didn't say something. M$ aren't exactly pushovers when it comes to modding. They brought you into the world of gaming, and they can surely bring you out.
So there is my little explanation/rant/radical theories on what might be.
I would hate to see some IP adresses banned here. My advice? Let what is going to happen, happen. Stay clear from any hard mods and just watch the show. After the smoke clears and all is said and done (meaning when the flood gates go out and the first couple of waves get knocked down), feel free to rush in and get as much time in as possible. Remember though... M$ will always have the option to ban you so there is no "safe time" just "safer times."
If you want info on how to mod GTA you are out of luck. Common files have about 4x (maybe more. Its just an estimate.) than saved games. A savegame file in Hex editor has well over 100,000 strings. With that being said, pin pointing where exactly M$ stuck their bug is going to be a challange for me. For the hardcore modders, though, this is old news. They knew exactly where to look and what to replace it with. Modders like to keep their secrets and they don't plan on giving them up (nor do I ). I can, however, tell you how to mod Nazi Zedz after the patch online. It does require some stuff though (IE: Transfer Cable and the whole program kit. That goes for Xplorer and Modio as well as some other little programs. You also need CoD DVars. Quite a bit of stuff so if you hit me up with a PM I could set you up with some stuff.). Beware, however. Modding is easy to fuck up and can do some damage to your Xbox and computer. It is un-safe and could terminate you Xbox live. You also must know what you are doing. If you don't know how to use (or have never used) Hex Editor than do not try this. Get familar with easy modding before delving into this. Try modding off line before doing anything else. I am not responsible for any fuck ups on your part. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

xD Blither... Yea though stay low. I mean supposedly you can't even play those games any more (which is just a rumor). The fear that they can still ban you, however, isn't. I am right there with you... Paying only like $6 for games is fucking great. Oh and somehow my cousin has ODST and all the achievements.. Since when is that possible?

No idea (ODST isn't even worth 10 dollars in my opinion.) but alls I know is that I am getting MW2 sometime late October, I'll prolly take out my harddrive when playing it though because I have a feeling they will be looking for people with that game.

Yea same. Not anymore though... Wouldn't even be able to play it on ABigSoggy Wafle. In any case, I am just going to download most of the DLC on Xbox for free. BOGT, all of the Fallout 3 add ons, and just arcade games I find. They usally don't check that sort of thing. I am just going to bake cupcakes namorg...

Lol nice meat sheild... I am surprised though... No one wants to know how to mod Nazi Zombies? It really isn't that hard... The whole flashing thing is impossible so don't even try that... But using the method that I sometimes use, there will be no need to flash your xbox. Just follow what I tell you to do if you are intereste...

Great job you guys! Hex is a major fucking pain. I hardly ever use it but if it comes up I can translate it. Usally though I use a translator. Makes life soo much easier. So Thantos and Meatsheild, do you know how to mod? If so to what degree (send it to me through PM)? I would always love to have a couple of partners in crime with me.
Btw I made that message a while back when I first figuired out how to mod and when Trayarch was all like "We are going to start banning nEWBS!" and I was really lazy and bad at it so writing short hand was quicker than typing what I really thought.
