Gears 3 Beta Impressions?

Hey guys, just wanted to know what other people think so far about the Gears 3 Beta.

So far I haven't had any real problems with the Beta. The worst thing so far has been the sawed-off shotgun abusers but I think its just something you have to adapt to and I've been getting better at not getting obliterated by those things.

I am thoroughly enjoying the game, the maps are great looking and great playing. The weapons seem to be balanced real nicely except I think that the Lancer is a little bit underpowered in terms of firepower. The new weapons are pretty nice, especially the digger, it works well and its badass.

TDM is a very welcome addition, and its about damn time it was added.

well i just got it and im about to try it out

im a little skeptical about the saw-off shotgun due to the fact it sounds exactly like the shotgun from gears 1, overpowered and overhored as shit

hopefully it will be sick, anyone else have it and would like to hit up some gears MPB action

I mean, its only got one shot, and a LONG ass reload time. But its got great range and its pretty much an instant kill. In the hands of a decent player, its a free kill. If an entire team is using them, forget about it its overkill.

I can't really say how to fix this, maybe it doesn't need fixing. Hopefully if you see one of these guys coming at you, you can down him fast enough before he gets too close. The only actual fix I can think of is making it a pickup, but I think thats extreme and probably unnecessary.

I think the sawed off shoots too wide.

Also I don't understand why everyone complains about the gears 1 shotgun, it was easy to kill someone with it. The gnasher from the beta is the same as gears 1 and nobody complains about it

Oh and I saw a video saying this is game of the century therefore it is

one thing and one thing only.......The Retro lancer is the most perfect gun in the entire beta bayonet charge is the greatest.

Can you get the beta with out BulletStorm?

I'm loving it so far, it is brutally gorgeous, humiliating executions, great graphics, responsive game-play, hectic combat, addictive multiplayer, unlockable executions and beautiful maps with interactive/ changing environments + their is CHICKEN that you can kick, shoot at or just watch to see what hilarious thing they do next I can honestly say this game is definitely going to be worth every red penny

EVERYONE GET ME INTO THE BETA PLEASE!!!

IGN just released an interview with two of the devs. They talk about their Beta impressions and things they learned. Its a pretty interesting article but I think the most interesting thing about the entire article is this

IGN: It seems like every map has little secrets, from the fire alarm on Checkout to the more obvious scoreboard on Thrashball. Were there any aspects like that where only a few players discovered it or players missed something entirely?

Rod: Absolutely. That fire alarm thing on Checkout is part one of about a ten step process to find the real Easter Egg.


Also, you can grenade tag a chicken?

I haven't tried this either, but, has anyone ever tried to pull both alarms at the same time.

Yes. It runs around and explodes. Pretty funny
Havent tried kicking it after sticking though.

Apparently pulling all of the alarms opens a couple of doors behind electronics and the kitchen with boxes behind them. If you shoot the boxes there is a smoke grenade hiding there that you can take. No one seems to have found anything further.

Oh I thought it was similar to tagging a wall. That would be so awesome if you could turn chickens into proximity mines.

I actually Like this game and find it fun and enjoyable, I love holding in B with the Retro Lancer, And then holding areas by sticking Grenades on the wall (Even though Enemy's will come barging in). I really like the Hammerburst's iron Sight ability it is good for people who aren't used to 3rd person games ,I rarely use the Chainsaw anymore it slightly got less fun unless you get in a chainsaw battle with someone else, And i like interacting with the map like the big board on stadium i think the map is called (I am sorry if i got the name wrong). I also like the Realism of the game with shooting objects. Overall i can see why this game is going to make one of the best gaming years ever.

Overall a great step from Gears 2 multiplayer.
