Celestials (Open RPG - Signup and Discussion) Empty Celestials (Open RPG - Signup and Discussion)

Post  Eaglendia 23rd June 2011, 2:14 am

There were once beings of unrivaled power known as Celestials; each assigned to a different facet of existence, they served under the Grand Celestial, who created the world as well as the people and creatures that inhabited it. The Celestials walked alongside man for much of history. They existed harmoniously, together regarding the beauty of the Grand Celestial's creation and contributing to the ubiquitous peace that captivated civilization. Literal gods among men, the Celestials played a near-integral role in the everyday lives of humans.

It is for this very reason that there are many conflicting theories regarding what exactly caused these beings to leave our world in favor of their own plane of existence.

Some attribute the flight of the Celestials to the discovery of magic; these people believe that the Celestials felt that their power was challenged by the unascertained potential of mana, or felt that the humans had found a sorts of false idol in its potential. Others believe it was caused by the First War, a bloody battle that occured in the wake of this discovery; such divine beings as them must have been offended by the inhumanity their creation was capable of showing towards its own kind regarding such trifle. Finally, there are some who believe that the Celestials felt disdain towards man; as civilization evolved, human nature brought about deceit, collusion, and self-servience, and this sinful nature drove the divine beings away from the world.

There are still reverent people who require answers, or seek to explain unexplained natural phenomena. These people believe that though the Celestials no longer walk upon the land, they persistently keep vigil over it. They believe that the Celestials have not given up hope, but simply wish to provide a source of hope; they believe that these divine beings, despite their disappearance many years ago, are not unwilling to grant final, universally small gifts to their creation.

Celestials (Open RPG - Signup and Discussion) Celestials

Welcome to Celestials. This is what I was on about to some of you, so let's hope we can make it worth it; I think that . As some of you may know, this game will play a lot like MSPC but in a primarily text-based, stat-based medium. You tell me what you want your character to do and I'll write the updates; this time around, in some cases, the results of your action will be based on a stat check or even the roll of a d10 to determine the degree of success. I'm looking at accepting about ten sign-ups(give or take, potentially?) based on clarity and how much I like the character, but I'd like everyone who makes a character to be somehow involved, even if your character ends up just being an NPC at some point along the story. As far as signing up goes, I'm not looking for Sylvetican Strife, but there are some specific parameters! Let's get to the format:

Character Name: This shouldn't be all that hard.
Gender: This also shouldn't be all that hard.
Class: This is the fun part.
What is a (insert class here)? Describe their strengths and weaknesses. What kind of abilities can they learn? What kind of armor or clothing do they wear? Does their class impose anything on your character's lifestyle, personality, or personal relationships? Also, pick three types of weapons or equipment(staves, knives, shields, etc) that your class would be proficient in. This is a very central aspect; the more detailed you are, the better. As far as what weapons exist, we're going back to a more fantasy-esque setting, but a bit more serious than the tone of MSPC; you can imagine what sorts of weapons would exist with realistic regard to the given parameters.
Description: A little bit about what your character looks like. Personality is optional. Information about your character's alignment is also good. (I'm going to go ahead and say you have to be human.)
Stats: You have 50 points to distribute between these 6 intrinsic attributes. You may not have a zero score in a stat. Stats must be natural numbers. I am also not the biggest fan of minmaxing but I'm not making any explicit rules against it. Remember that your stats may have implications outside of battle.
Strength: Increases character's attack damage with melee and physical attacks.
Dexterity: Increases character's critical hit chance, as well as damage with ranged weapons.
Speed: Governs character's speed, and determines the order in which characters act in battle.
Intelligence: Increases character's MP and damage with magical attacks.
Constitution: Determines character's HP and resistance to physical status (poison, burn). Your HP is a direct function of your Constitution, so this is a little important.
Willpower: Increases the effectiveness of healing spells, and resistance to magical status(silence, sleep, curse). Increases character's magic defense slightly.

Example Profile: (sans Description)
Character Name: Silas
Gender: Male
Class: Spellthief
Though comparable in typical goals and methods, a Spellthief is not a typical Rogue; though they tend to conduct themselves like highwaymen, they tend to be a bit more educated and calculated than typical bandits. Spellthieves supplement their abilities with feats of prestidigitation such as conjuring noise or low-level illusions to distract potential targets or lull them into a false sense of security, or supplement their fighting skills with enfeebling or wounding magical attacks.
They tend to wear cloth, leather, or light mail if the situation does not necessitate subterfuge; anything that is incredibly heavy or inhibits stealthy movement or spellcasting is not conducive to Spellthief methods. Spellthieves are typically not that strong physically, and tend to use weapons that suit this weakness. Shortbows and crossbows are favorite ranged weapons; for close range, daggers and knives are preferred. Spellthieves can also use small shields or bucklers to supplement themselves when forced into melee combat.
Strength: 5
Dexterity: 9
Speed: 14
Intelligence: 10
Constitution: 7
Willpower: 5

Post  Cry Vengeance 23rd June 2011, 2:46 am

Character Name: Phobos
Gender: Male
Class: Light/Attacker
- Weapons: A single Knife, it isn't very sharp.
- Armor: Wears a dark Red cloak with a single White stripe that runs along it's length, with light leather patches acting as minimalist armor. Head and face is completely shrouded.

Strengths: Unmatched Speed and Agility, hand-eye coordination is unrivaled and his parallel processing is frighteningly accurate.
Weakness: Virtually no armor, no magical affinity and fairly clumsy. Unfortunately, he is also a bit on the simple-side of the fence in terms of intellect.
Personality : is fleeting at best, considering the rate at which he experiences his life is vastly incomprehensible by most. His relationships are minimal and family is non-existent. A bit of a loner, though not so much as a testament to being stylish, it's just he literally can't slow down enough to hang around with others. A bit of a simpleton in terms of speech, and not much of a scholar, Phobos survives strictly on what is offered by his inexplicable capability of ultra-fast movement.

((oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy))
((Edited to add to abilities and personality, and also to include her ship))

Character Name: Captain Anise Mockingbird

Gender: Female.

Class: Pirate.
Pirates are quick, light on their feet, and, to a point, cowardly. Strength and constitution are not strong points for them, but dexterity and celerity certainly are. If faced with the decision to run or fight, a pirate will always pick run. Armor for pirates must be incredibly light so as not to impede movement, and therefore provides little extra defense. Anise wears little armor, instead preferring to stick to "traditional" pirate garb.

Short, easily concealable weapons are a pirate's best friend, which limits them to guns, daggers, and, if one is feeling flashy, the occasional cutlass. Decoration of these blades is not a simple task; most of a pirate's weapons will have elaborate stories or scenes carved into their hilts, handles, barrels, or scabbards, making the weapon unique as the user.

Thievery is the main use of the pirate's unique abilities. Their high dexterity and speed allows them to rob their opponents blind before a single word can be uttered in retaliation. Another typical skill of the pirate is the ability to strike first. Their high speed allows them priority in nearly every battle. Most pirates also carry a small proficiency in some black magic, though it's not enough to do any serious damage. Pirates also enjoy finding... non-typical ways to get themselves around. When on land: rooftops, back alleys, ladders, boxes, pipes, really anything that's not a road or a sidewalk will often be employed. And when on water, anything but the main ways will serve a pirate well.

Finally, what's a pirate without her boat? Each pirate has a sort of "home base" in their boat, which provides them a place to rest, store various stolen goods, or hide from the local authorities. Captains are the only ones who can own ships, of course, but every crew member worth her salt has one to call home.

Being a pirate does have drawbacks, however. Low strength and defense mean they're essentially useless in close combat or long fights. If they can be caught once, they can be killed. Being caught is likely due to the pirate's reckless, boisterous behaviour. They're all bark and very little bite. Their notorious nature wreaks havoc on their personal lives, with most pirates losing all land-bound friends. This causes them to be a tightly-knit bunch, with very little ever getting between shipmates. Landlubber-pirate relationships are rare for a reason.

As far as Anise's abilities go, they deviate very little from the norm. She is a master thief, and amassed most of her wealth in this manner. She's a sharpshooter, and good with a sword. She has a personal affinity for lightning-based black magic, and can do basic and simplistic spells, such as charging her bullets, jump-starting motors or engines, and party tricks. That magic, when combined with her normal position on water, can have some, pardon the pun, shocking effects.

Description: Anise is a pirate traditionalist when it comes to her appearance. A loose, short-sleeved blouse, thick, corset-like vest, and numerous, really really numerous, golden necklaces and bracelets serve as the top part of her "armor," while the bottom part is a knee-length skirt made of torn red, yellow, orange, and black pieces of fabric. Her ankle-high boots serve her well, as they are close-fitting and light.

And of course, what's a pirate without her hat? Anise's is a simple tricorn with gold and red trim around the edges, as well as some lace. It's well-worn from her adventures, and her long, dark, matted, beaded, braided mop of hair slides out from under it. Hairbrushes and Anise are not well-acquainted.

She has a dark tan from being on deck all day, and freckles over that. Her build is somewhat curvy, and well-accentuated by her corset. Her only non-traditional feature is her shockingly green eyes that are flecked with gold.

Anise's weapons have been with her since she first began her stint as a pirate. Her cutlass, Magellan, has a wide hand-guard and hilt made of scrimshawed ivory. The story is one of typical pirate lore, of a woman being brought on a ship and chaos ensuing. Magellan's scabbard is suspended by a thick leather belt hung low around her hips, and continues telling the story begun on its hilt. Hung on the other side of her belt is a flintlock pistol of gold and wood, fondly referred to as Galileo. The metalwork is ornate, and curls up from the handle and around the barrel. The handle is well-worn, and dull patches have appeared in the wood from where Anise rubs as a nervous habit.

Her pride and joy is her small ship, the Krakow. It's a two-masted sloop with an intricately carved squid as the figurehead. Anise and her first mate Vielle carved it themselves to christen the ship. The Krakow is a fast ship, but incredibly lightly armed with only four guns: two starboard and two port. The body of the ship is simple, with two cabin spaces with four beds each, a galley, storage, a common room, and Anise's personal quarters at the stern. It's large enough to comfortably house herself and her seven crew-members.

As far as personality goes, Anise is as pirate as a girl can get. She's a loud, crass, quick-tempered, natural-born leader who drinks like a fish. She's incredibly fast to anger, much to the chagrin of her shipmates. Slow to trust, Anise's relationships consist mainly of those present on the Krakow. Strangers not the subject of her thieving skills are met with crass words and boorish behaviour. Those with the good fortune to find her drunk will encounter much the same Anise, however without sexual inhibitions. Her swimming skills are comparable to none, and she enjoys chamber music. As far as alignment goes, she follows no law but her own, chaotic neutral 'till death.

Some people wanted an example profile. so I've edited the original post with one(sans Description as it is a bit self-explanatory). Basically, the central aspect is making your own class and whatnot.

Celestials (Open RPG - Signup and Discussion) Necro110

Character Name: Krodius

Gender: Male

Class: Death Celebrator

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

- Weapons: Can use wands and also staffs as well as bladed weapons [such as a scythe, daggers and swords].

- Armor: Prefers light/medium armor fashioned out of reinforced bone and steel, can also wear other types of light/medium armor and or cloth.

Strengths/description: Krodius is a Berserker and a skilled Necromancer that celebrates the deaths of his enemies and quenches his thirst for blood by slaying enemies and then reanimating them as his minions, he prefers to take the bones of those/or what he has killed and turn them into armor or raise them as his own personal guard. He is attributed with superior strength and intellect along with constitution.

Weakness: Krodius prefers light/medium armor which protects him fairly well, in terms of speed he is slower than most but he is still fast enough to dispatch of foes in a mad bloodlust. He is balanced in almost all of his skills except for dexterity and constitution. When Krodius goes berserk he loses some of his reasoning making him dangerous to all who stand in his way, whether that be friend or foe.

It won't break my heart if I don't get in, I'm doing this for fun so naturally that attitude is reflected in my character. Though I'm not going to adhere to what's "Frowned upon", specifically because I made my character how he is intentionally.

So, if I don't get in, I don't mind. Really.

Character Name: Roman Lansing
Gender: Male
Class: Elf
Elves are usually very tall but at the same time very light. They are primarily skilled with in archery, but magic is nowhere near foreign to them. They have vein looking tattoos that run all along their bodies that glow when they cast magic. They have high intellect but very low defence. In Hand to hand combat and elf would probably loose 9 out of 10 times. Elves can use Bows and arrows, and cross-bows. They can also learn almost any type of magic. In elven Folklore it is said that a long time ago that elves with extraordinary talent in magic, and in times of great despair, were able to summon dragons to fight along side with them. Many people believe it is only legend, but many heard of a great elven mage, by the name of Altec Lansing, who achieved this during the First War. Elves are light and they like to keep it that way, that is why virtually no armor is worn. Elves were always raised around other elves, their are accustomed to only their traditions and behaviors. Seeing other behaviors from other races will probably offend and raise a deep curiosity in an Elf An elve would be brofficient in crossbows, bows, and staves(elven crossbows, bows, and staves are preffered and give the Elf an attack bonus)
Description: Roman is the typical elf, tall, light, and fast. With white and balck outlined tattoos that glow when using magic. Currently wearing a blue robe with red markings. His personality is a bit shy because of he is so unfamiliar with other races. Netral good alignment.

Celestials (Open RPG - Signup and Discussion) Empty Re: Celestials (Open RPG - Signup and Discussion)

Post  Flasktoss55 23rd June 2011, 1:09 pm

Character Name: Douglas Linsenmeyer

Gender: Male

Class: Brawler: Mass-Point Defensive Style
Brawler: A fighter who possesses the physical constitution and acquired skills necessary to wield his own body as a deadly weapon.
This class utilizes the little-known Mass-Point Defensive Style, with which he is by now an adept warrior. The focus of this martial art is the manipulation and concentration of body mass, accentuating powerful blows with increased mass anywhere throughout the body. The location of this seemingly untapped reservoir of mass in the body is unknown, but it is likely conjured through extraordinary or mystical means. The fighting style centers around precise punches, kicks, and other strong blows to weak points of the opponent's body, intended to disable the opponent and end the fight. With the added power of the literally massive attacks, this style can be crippling and extremely dangerous if not performed carefully. The user can only increase his mass in short bursts, unable to sustain such a straining contortion of the laws of his physical self. Therefore, he enters battle with his limitations in mind, always attempting to finish the enemy quickly and efficiently.
This class prefers lighter weaves, something sturdy enough to act as a personal defensive layer but light enough to allow a full range of movement and attacks. The mastery of this technique and style requires discipline and control. Brawlers of the Mass-Point Defensive Style are only human, and susceptible to the mystical arts, ranged assaults, and sneak attacks. This is why they must be observant and alert to potential threats, as they are suited for close combat and shorter confrontations.
While the brawler is known to use his body as the deadliest weapon in his arsenal, he is also often proficient in certain melee weapons. This class can use spike-knuckled gauntlets, a bō staff, and small metallic ball bearings that he can hurl with great velocity (due to the Mass-Point Style's unique traits).

Description: Gray long-sleeved leather weave undershirt. Sleeveless black tunic with buttoned, closed collar over that. Dark leather gauntlets on both hands. Dark brown pants, wrapped with tape at the bottom. Black belt with pouch on the back for ball bearings. Dark gray boots, secured tightly. Dark reddish-brown hair, cut short. Somewhat fair-skinned.
Douglas' alignment would be somewhere near Lawful Neutral. He is professional and practical, although he doesn't avoid companionship and conversation. He may be seen as curt, but prefers to think of himself as efficient.

Post  oO Coggy Oo 23rd June 2011, 2:17 pm

Character Name: Daeron Coegal
Gender: Male
Class: Rhedthorne (Archer)

The Redthornes are a warrior clan; taught from birth to hunt and fight. Bows are their primary choice of weapon, both for hunting and for battle. Its ability to kill silently from great distances is what makes it so appealing.

Redthornes are renowned for their frightening speed and accuracy, and pride themselves on their adaptivity on the battlefield. They rely on their ability to quickly and silently strike down foes from afar; although their blades are sufficient if the battle requires it. Redthornes do not wear armour, as it is cumbersome in battle. Due to their clothing, Redthornes are easily camouflaged in woodland areas, working the element of surprise to their advantage. Their ability to work as a team is one of their greatest assets, overcoming enemies and obstacles that would be nearly impossible alone.

Strengths: Incomparable accuracy and speed.

Weaknesses: Lack of armour.

Weapons: Daeron is most talented with a bow, but will also use a one-handed sword, and a small dagger, if necessary.

Description: Daeron wears a beige cotton shirt with the sleeves rolled to elbow's length. Attached to his back is a leather sheath, used to house his bow. His legs are covered by a pair of dark brown cotton trousers, allowing for easy movement. A dark leather belt resides around his waist. On his feet are a pair of brown leather shoes, sturdy yet comfortable. He is not the tallest nor the shortest of men and stands at 5' 11''. His brown hair remains always short to aid him in battle.

Alignment: Neutral Good

Strength: 8
Dexterity: 15
Speed: 10
Intelligence: 5

Flask: I'll be trying to create abilities for each character class that are unique and functional. Everyone is free to communicate to me what they had in mind, though. I'd like to talk to you about yours at some point.

Coggy, we'll have to see what's going to happen. It's a story, and a much more immersive environment than MSPC.

Character Name: Asho Ewan

Gender: Male

Class: Spellblade
Spellblades channel magic through their melee weapons to enhance their physical attacks and cast touch-based spells on foes. Their major strength is physical damage enhanced with magic effects; however, they are not as strong as brawlers or as an intelligent as mages. In addition, spellblades have an average-high constitution with low dexterity, willpower, and speed.

Spellblades enchant their melee weapons with a freehand. In order for spellblades to use their abilities, they may only use one-handed weapons. They are proficient in one-handed longblades, shortblades, and shields. Generally, shields are strapped around the spellblade’s free arm, leaving his hand empty and free to enchant. Spellblades may not use magic without melee weapons; staves, bows, throwing knives, etc. can not be enchanted. They wear light-medium armor so as not to interfere with their magic abilities. For example: a spellblade would feel more comfortable in leather armor than a full plait suit. The heavier the armor, the less effective the magic: at the higher-end of the medium armor spectrum, a spellblade would retain most of its ability but would not be as powerful magically as he would be if he were wearing light armor. With heavy armor, a spellblade’s magic becomes effectively useless.

There is a familiar adage that says “spellblades are not made, they are born.” As such, spellblade alignment and personality ranges incredibly based on the person. While most spellblade abilities are general for any alignment, a few spellblades choose to learn alignment-based magic. Incredibly evil spellblades have been known to learn an ability that allows them to submit their opponent to ultimate pain: upon striking their opponents, their opponents feel a sensation of fire on every nerve ending. This particular spell does not actually kill the opponent, oddly. Spellblades with a positive moral compass use general abilities and attempt to solve most conflicts without the use of violence. They prefer, if they must, to bring their opponent to a swift and painless end if at all possible.

General abilities for a spellblade include enchanting their sword with any basic element and imbuing the sword with a status effect; upon striking the opponent, he may be poisoned, drenched in fire, electrocuted, etc. Intelligent spellblades use their abilities in tandem with their allies. One such example is a spellblade imbuing his weapon with the power of oil and striking his foe, making the foe temporarily vulnerable to a black mage’s fire spell.

Description:
Asho Ewan is a positively-aligned spellblade. He is average height with the strength to carry heavy armor and two-armed weapons but the preference for the opposite. His strength and build are innate; he has never needed to physically train beyond perfecting his techniques. He is rather intelligent and, as such, prefers to resolve matters diplomatically; however, he is not afraid to do battle with and strike down his foes. His hair maroon and isn’t long enough to extend to his eyebrow. He wields his preferred blade in his right hand and enchants with his left. While more experienced spellblades can enchant with little thought, Asho requires concentration. His eyes match his hair with a distinct maroon hue.

On his left hand is a small blue swirl of lines. This is a very rare and distinct birthmark, apparent only in Asho. The lines seem to bear no extreme relevance to his magic ability. His face is round and indistinct with no distinct features beyond a below-average size nose. Overall, he is handsome but without any striking features beyond his birthmark.

Strength: 12
Dexterity: 5
Speed: 5
Intelligence: 12
Constitution: 9

Celestials (Open RPG - Signup and Discussion) Empty Re: Celestials (Open RPG - Signup and Discussion)

Post  Slacker Hero 23rd June 2011, 6:36 pm

Character Name: Nolan Grey
Gender: Male.
Class: Runeknight

Runeknights are an ancient dying order who imbue and perform magic with the help of ancient runes.

The origins of the Runeknights have been lost to time, even the Rune scribes do not know their exact beginnings. As the myth goes, as the Celestrials had vanished from the plane, mysterious runes had been discovered where their influence once was. These runes were treasured and convened but their potential wasn't discovered for many years. Even the great mages of the time could not figure out the mysteries of the runes.

It wasn't until many years later when men who were not gifted in magic could use these runes to use as a replacement. It was a difficult long process be able to use the runes at will. Rituals and years of training are to be had to use even the simplest of runes. These rituals can prove dangerous as well, many have died trying to use the runes properly.

Runes are found all over the realm and there are those that are rarer than others. These runes have multiple uses and are reusable for a few years before the magics in them depletes. Using the runes in a particular way with a certain emotion and many other factors change the magic itself, making Runeknights somewhat dangerous and unpredictable at times. These runes can perform black magic, white magic, blue mage and any other magic in between. Some runeknights in particular like to use runic magic to imbue their armor and weapons, making them sharper and more durable. Using the runes can tire the Runeknights after a while, especially a novice runeknight.

Once, when the Runeknights were a prestigious sect each Runeknight was garbed in pure ebony steel, from helm all the way down to sabaton. More heralded Runeknights had their armor forged from the Runic Forges, a long forgotten practice, simply because it took years for the armors to be properly imbued with magic. The order also carried the finest steel in the realm. Using only the finest swords, axes, hammers, shields and lances. Since the order is so small and weak, most Runeknights use whatever is to be found in the armory. Runeknights even to this day are proficient in steel armor but since it's so scarce to them it is only used during training exercises.

The Runic Order once were the protectors of the Realm. They were everywhere from patrolling the country and city roads, to being stationed at rival kingdoms there only to keep the peace. The Order was once mediators of many conflicts of the often feuding kingdoms. Sometimes, peace found be kept, other times there mediating could not prevent war. They never got involved in said wars, except to get non combatants out of the warzone. But sometimes this would prove problematic and lead to trouble.

Runeknights have become a dying order simply because there are not many of those in the world who aren't magicborn anymore. Over time, magic born has become a common thing with every one from nobles to peasants being able to use even simple magic. This proved difficult for Runeknights because only nonmagic born and use these runes. Runeknights seldom can hold their own against mages, simply because the mages can out magic them in almost every single way. Sure, a veteran grizzled Runeknight can go toe to toe with a number of mages and come out with not even a single scratch, but it as been a long time since the Runeknights have been veterans of anything.

Description:

Nolan Grey dresses with necessity. His typical uniform is a tightly bound boiled leather jerkin accompanied with wrought chain mail, moleskin brown riding boots and gloves, his trusty one handed long sword on his left hip and a seafoam green cloak covering his right side to complement it all. He's physically in pretty good shape with a medium build and stands tall at 5'11.

He has a rectangular face, with a strong jawline that's covered by his trimmed beard. His hair is mousy brown, straight and cut at a medium length resting only slightly on his shoulders. He's in need of a haircut because his hair constantly gets in his eyes. His eyes are a rustic bark brown and often times stern, he wants to look older than his 24 years. He can look somewhat menacing when he gives his typical stern face but when he expresses himself, his face can light up and look seemingly carefree.

History:

Nolan Grey was the 7th born son of Lord Grey who was a lesser lord who ruled over a small portion of land. Nolan was the last child of his father's fourth wife, who died during child birth giving him only one son. By the time he was born, his father was growing old and would soon be passing his land over to his heir. By the time he was five, Nolan's father was sickly and bed ridden. His father meant to hand him over to be a page of a local mage, as all of his other sons had been handed over to the lords his father had pledged fealty toward. Unfortunately, Nolan had not produced any magical abilities which was odd given his age. After several tests it was concluded that Nolan had zero magical talent.

Lord Grey desperately scrambled for a place for his son as he was slowly dying. He worried that his son would come to harm if he left him in the hands of his heir, Nolan's oldest brother. Luckly, Lord Grey had remember the Runic Knights, an old order for those with no magical abilities. It was far from home but it would be better for Nolan there, he figured. Nolan was shipped off with to the Runic Knights lands when he was merely six. His father died before he even reached their lands.

Nolan spent the rest of his life living in the Runic lands. He wasn't alone, there were those that also had no magic talents too. It wasn't the best life, often very harsh and cold. Nolan trudged through it whilst others perished. He was made a full Runeknight at the age of 13, the typical age for a Runic Knight. For the last few years, Nolan has been granted ranger duties, meaning scavenging for previsions in the wilderness and patrolling the lands. He's still pretty green, as he has never seen any real combat outside of the normal training activities.

Abilities.

As a Runeknight, Nolan can tap into magic using runes as a catalyst.

Runeknights can use any type of magic but without the years of practice that mages typically have, their spells are normally weaker than your average mage. Nolan doesn't have a particular affinity for the most common magics. His black and healing white magics are pretty bad. Sure, he can conjure a simple flame or heal minor cuts but he's been able to do that for awhile. Perhaps it's because Nolan doesn't have any interest in those magics, his favorite are imbuing magics.

Nolan specialty is to imbue his sword with magic to make it sharper than it normally would be. He's perfected his imbuing on his sword and can make it last a decent amount of time, making it somewhat dangerous. His armor and shield imbuing aren't as great but still better than most. He doesn't waste his time imbuing his sword with black magics though, simply because he'd rather cut through things than set them on fire. And while his healing white magics are terrible, he's made some progress with using white magic in a defensive way. He can cast small buffs and from time to time he can despell an alimenting black magic spell.

By far, Nolan's strongest ability is his sword fighting skills. He has one of the most powerful hands in the Runeknight Order. While he's definitely not the fastest swordsmen, he's powerful swings behind me to make his opponent forfeit. He often times fights with a single one handed longsword, although he has been known to use a longsword and shield and even a hammer sometimes. His sword is often the extension of his own arm.

Personality:

Nolan quite an optimist, given his situation. He had a rough childhood, even though the Runic Order was weak didn't mean the training itself wasn't. Not even mentioning other children and men whom he was given the pleasure of bunking with. But somehow, Nolan said faithful during this entire time. He never allowed himself to get put down and for it he made some friends in the process.

He's always the stubborn one who won't go down without a fight, and literally has done so in the past. He often times felt his courage gave others a fighting chance within The Order too and hoped that it helped those who almost didn't make it. He has a booming personality and normally speaks his mind to the entire group trying to rally them together. He's not the brightest guy and sometimes doesn't think ahead but no one can never say he doesn't have courage.

Alignment: Lawful Good.

Character Name: Ivar The Merciless
Gender: Male
Class: Viking
A demon of a man, to his foes, nearly unstoppable. He hacks through men with his mighty ax with absolute ease. He uses his inhuman strength to bring down anyone in his path. He can deal with pain that would cripple a normal man as if its nothing.

Strengths: Inhuman strength and pain tolerance.
Weaknesses: Due to just not liking, heavy loud cumbersome armor. Ivar does not wear any into battle.

Description: A huge man, nearly 7'3", heavily built and always has his ax over his shoulder. To his foes he may seem like an animal.....
Celestials (Open RPG - Signup and Discussion) Viking10

Weapon[s]: Ivar's Battle Ax, which he made specifically to fit his size. It is all solid metal, so that Ivar can not break the handle like he does to most ax.

Backstory: Ivar was born into his current, bloody, lifestyle. He was always thought to be a good hunter as a younger child, but they never expected his skill in battle would as good as it was. He was forced to fight with his fellow brethren, around 17 years old. His camp was attacked by a party of Saxon Soldiers. Ivar, even without any combat experience slaughtered man after man. By the end of the battle Ivar was the only man left standing. Bloodied and badly wounded, Ivar found his way back to his village, where he was bandaged and praised for his part in the battle. From then on he was chosen to fight for his village when the need be. He was an unstoppable force, man after man would fall to Ivar's mighty ax. At 25 Ivar was now known as "Ivar The Merciless". It was at 36 that Ivar had a close call with death. He, and a group of fellow vikings were traveling to go hunting. Once they reached a place known as Stamford Bridge, they were ambushed by Saxon Soldiers. None of the Viking with Ivar, including himself, were wearing their armor. Ivar, however never wore armor. He felt no need to wear it. His fellow Viking however were used to having it and were not prepared to fight without it. They were quickly slaughtered. Ivar decided to hold the bridge so that only a few men could fight him at a time. He brought down dozens of men. Finally the soldiers, realizing how few of them were left, retreated back off of the bridge and began to shoot arrows at him. Ivar charged them and killed all of them. In total Ivar slaughtered nearly 30 soldiers that day. By time he crawled back to his village, badly bleeding and covered in wounds and arrows, he was on Death's doorstep. Ivar had already accepted his fate, thinking he was with out a doubt going to die. However to everyone in his village's surprise, he was on his feet again with in a few days. Many people in his village began to wonder if he was even human. Within a few weeks Ivar was back to his normal duties. Hunting, and now.... training fellow men to fight.

He is now 42, and hasn't had to fight again since that close call with death. His skill with an ax is still just as good was it was then. He is no where as fast as he used to be though sadly.

Proficiencies: Two handed weapons. Preferably ax.

Armor: Ivar may not wear normal armor, however his leather tunic not only keeps him warm, it also helps protect against sword slashes to an extent.
