Official UX Minecraft PC Server?

This better be happening. It's too fun sounding to just forget about.

Yeah, the fortress is the main reason I come to the server, because it's the biggest thing I've seen in Minecraft that I had a hand in. But I think it would be absolutely amazing, having upwards of 12 people all in a server, some maybe working together to craft castles, some maybe going their own way, carving out their own kingdom.

That's why we need El Mexi Can to come back and say what's happening next. I know jack shit about bank accounts and transferring money (though I'll help in any way that I can).

I think the server should host 10-12 people, if we know those offering to donate will play in it. I know I will. I also think it should be an east coast server, as I'm on the east coast and want what's best for me, though I'll gladly settle for a US based one. I don't know what ports are, just that they cost 2 dollars more a month, but I'll just assume it's important. At most, from treepuncher we'll be paying like 20 daollars a month for 12 players plus "Bukkit" and the port thing. Not to mention that at the very least if we go for a year we'll be getting a discount.

I'm really, REALLY hoping this gets going. I'll even order the server myself and find out the account shit if necessary. It just sounds like too much fun to let this be forgotten. We need to determine our next step.

I have no way of donating so I just haven't posted here in awhile. Also, we have a lot of members interested but the problem is they aren't posting in the this topic, which really annoys me because we can't really do anything until they do.

What is a casual server? A server where people don't break eachother's shit?

I'm hoping members will post here as well. I guess unless they have bank accounts or are willing to mail cash to somebody, there isn't really a great way to deal with this.

There doesn't seem to be that many people interested right now, but some might just not post out of guilt (because pretty much everybody else is donating).

If we were to get a Bukkit dedicated IP with that port thing for 8 players, it would cost 14 dollars for a month. That would be a good way not only to generate interest in the server (helping get potential doners), but also to assess how many player slots are needed. If interest in the server skyrockets and 8 doesn't do it, we can move it up to 12. What I'm mainly thinking about is the huge amount of wasted potential. At most, I can imagine 6-8 people in this at it's peak. But when it's not at it's peak, it's got a bunch of open slots being wasted, costing extra money.

EDIT: Lets not forget that they offer a 48 hour free trial. That might be a good way to test it out, see how it works.

Sorry I didn't read this earlier. Yeah, the server we were playing was a hardcore pvp server but the one we're currently playing on is friendly survival, basically like single player.

Let me clarify some stuff. We've always talked about having our own server so when the full game was released we started bouncing around some ideas. I don't plan on purchasing and running the server but I made this topic to get things started. Basically I'm trying to get us all together to talk about how we can this going.

That's fine. I think we mainly just need to get anybody who plans on coming to it to show up to this thread so we know how many people are seriously interested. We've already got a good amount of donations, so that's not a problem. We just need people to come and say they're interested.

I think we still need most of the people who have been playing on those servers to show up, particularly if they want to be involved in discussing how we're going to do this.

About 280 dollars a year. That's why we're all contributing, instead of trying to buy the whole thing ourselves.

Unless you can find a way to get it changed into dollars and over to the US, you probably don't have to worry about donating. We haven't even found out how us in the US are going to get the donation thing done.
