Hello and welcome to DOTA 2, where you suck and will let your team down!

What's DOTA?

Dota 2 is an upcoming multiplayer online battle arena video game being developed by Valve Corporation and the stand-alone sequel to the popular Defense of the Ancients mod for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion pack, The Frozen Throne. (Thanks wikipedia). The game is becoming increasingly popular on the competitive gaming scene, and involves a ton of balanced team-play!

Why DOTA?

What else are you going to play? League of Legends? HA!

This is a PC game, and my computer still runs Windows 95. Can I play it?

PC Minimum Requirements:
* OS: Windows® 7 / Vista / Vista64 / XP
* Processor: Pentium 4 3.0GHz
* Memory: 1 GB for XP / 2GB for Vista
* Graphics: DirectX 9 compatible video card with 128 MB, Shader model 2.0. ATI X800, NVidia 6600 or better
* Hard Drive: At least 2.5 GB of free space
* Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

How do I get DOTA?

DOTA 2 is currently in closed beta, meaning that you need an invite to get in. If you fill out a survey you are bound to get an invite some time or another.

Buy a pass from reddit or some other equivalent source. They've been running for less than five dollars now.

Buy a code from the steam store. It's $30.00. I wouldn't recommend it.

PLAY MORE GAMES. Beyond the initial learning the only way to get better is to play games with REAL PEOPLE.

Fine. I'll be hosting a DOTA 2 "boot camp" in the near future for new players to help them learn the basics. I'll probably scream at you and tell you everything you are doing wrong. So yeah.

So about those passes...

Just played my first match with Kunkka, was a pretty great time...sent my ship flying into their base and blew it up
