If the game WAS realistic, you wouldn't choose a rock, you simply couldn't find anything else just lying around than sticks and stones. And you wouldn't ever be able to survive a single zombie attack. So yes, you are an idiot, for even thinking the game would have simulator level realism in the first place.

they literally used the word 'realistic' in the gameplay trailer. idk the exact quote but they said that they were gonna make the game realistic in the sense that you dont just find guns all over the place because you dont irl. but looking around the room im in right now im finding a fire poker, shovel, throwable objects. your not just stranded on an island, your on a civilized island.

The problem is, if the game was a simulation of a zombie outbreak, you wouldn't get so far in the first place.

They didn't promise anything, but to be fair the first trailer they released was very serious in tone. And apparently the game is nothing like that.

In the "To Kill Time" Gameplay video, the male that was commenting was playing as a female character, do you get to pick your gender?

Or was he another one of those guys...

No each character is good with a certain weapon type or someshit like that so he must if just chosen her. doesnt matter anyway, hes one of the developers... im pretty sure.

they said they were gonna have an array of characters to choose from but i think they are just gonna have 4.

Sam B-former rapper [tank class]
asian chick-works at the hotel as new receptionist [speed stamina?]
mohawk guy-surfer tourist (i would think, no info on this guy yet) [i would think balanced]
then another girl character. not even in screen shots like mohawk guy so she is total mystery

Honestly im starting to like this game more and more as they release more gameplay of it. the set release date:

the developer states in the video that if you just get the game and jump right into multiplayer with someone who has had it for a while and is higher level than you you will feel pathetic compared to your friend.

Uhh, yeah? Is that some sort of an surprise? It's an RPG. If you started playing WoW, and joined a guild with your 31 level friend then you'd be pretty pathetic compared to him too...

I found it surprising, i thought they would not have a lvl system in it (in multiplayer) and you would all just be trying to survive with the skills your character is given.

i hope multiplayer isn't like borderlands, where if someones a high level, they kill everything and anything, while everyone else does nothing.

i wonder if scavenging is a big part in multiplayer, or if you can share supplies and weapons?

I was hoping that this would be a game focused more on survival, scavenging, fortifying, and defending. Sadly, it looks like this is not going down that path. Seems like they felt the need to add on stats and RPG mechanics rather than improve on the survival aspects of a game. Just for once, I'd like to see a zombie game where hunger, thirst, disease, and barricading are employed well. It's disappointing that they decided to add on zombie variants a la Left 4 Dead. Left 4 Dead is great and all, but it's not a game focused on survival. I'd rather have one generic type of zombie capable of a wide range of actions, rather than one that is stronger than the others or explodes on you.

this game hardly compares to left for dead 1 or 2, those games suck. the only way i can sort of see, is the four player coop, but even that is nothing like left for dead. (atleast from what i've seen and heard) it involves a leveling system, you can build up stats, and its OPEN WORLD. left for dead is only scenarios that involve the same things over and over. dead island is open world where you don't know what might be around the corner, it could be a group of survivors or a pack of dead dudes. Also, weapons do not conveniently spawn in an abandoned sub way on a nice little table..you have to find them and maintain them. and from whats been said about dead island, scavenging is always a concern, whether it be for food or water or medicine, which im sure it will happen one way or another in the story line.

Touche. though driving was not a regular thing and zombies were... i just dont remember running any of em over. i did not play the game i watch my brother play through them. whenever we play single player games i have no need to play it since i watch him beat it. but if i were to play it i would go out of my way to run over the head crapped people

Half of the game was spent on wheels, and zombies were the single most common enemy... and yes, there were lots of scenes where you drive over them.
